YUMPR is a challenging 2D platformer that captures classic arcade simplicity with tight, responsive controls and well-designed level variety that rewards precision and persistence without relying on modern conveniences like DLC or elaborate progression systems. Players praise its fair difficulty curve, affordable price point, and the joy of mastering mechanics reminiscent of Super Meat Boy, though some note minor issues like slippery air control and the lack of D-pad movement support. It's a straightforward, fun experience that delivers pure platforming gameplay for those who appreciate retro-
Sometimes i like remembering the good old C64 and AMIGA500 Times. Small and simple Games with simple Graphics and Musics. Just for having Fun without any DLC´s or Patches. Just start and play. Like here. Welcome to YUMPR! I fear that will be my shortest Review ever. Well, because there is not much to write about it. Let´s see. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3171176311 It feels that the Legendary SUPER MEAT BOY has a little Brother: YUMPR. YUMPR is a really challenging but fair 2D Platformer. No killing enemys, just avoiding Monsters and mastering obstacles of all kind. Just try to reach the End of a Level. It is amazing how smooth and on point the Controlls are. The DEV did a very good job. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3171176469 If you think you are a very skilled Controller Master, then try to beat YUMPR. A Controller is highly recommended not only by me, also from the DEV itself. The Graphics are nice done and that goes also for the Music. Simple but straight. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3171176751 Oh i forgot. You have unlimited Lives. Instead of losing lives you have a dead Counter, how many…13 found this helpful
Captivating precision platform with good difficulty curve.
This is the kind of game that reminds us that good gameplay combined with creative level design generates so much fun that it makes irrelevant eventual simplicity of the graphics. There are some details that can be improved (soundtrack and menu aesthetics, for example), but the essential surely was done right: the responsive controls and the fair challenge of the levels are 10/10. YUMPR is Super Meat Boy's less-famous younger cousin. I'm looking forward to new games from this promising developer. If you like platforms, give it a try! EDIT AFTER PLAYING MORE: the variety of challenges is impressive. Really great game!3 found this helpful
YUMPR is a challenging 2D pixel-art platformer developed and published by DybotoGames that embraces the philosophy of classic arcade-style gaming. It is a game built around persistence, precision, and gradual improvement, offering an experience that rewards determination more than anything else. Rather than relying on elaborate storytelling, extensive progression systems, or modern conveniences, YUMPR focuses almost entirely on platforming fundamentals. The result is a straightforward but engaging adventure that constantly pushes players to improve their timing, reactions, and mastery of movement. The premise is intentionally simple. Players take control of Yumpr, a small character who has crash-landed in a hostile environment populated by dangerous creatures and deadly obstacles. The objective is survival. From the opening moments, the game establishes a world where every mistake can be costly and every successful jump feels meaningful. There is little emphasis on narrative exposition, allowing the gameplay itself to become the primary source of engagement. This old-school approach keeps the pace moving and places all attention on overcoming the challenges ahead. Movement is the…1 found this helpful
