✦ AI summary

Players consistently praise The Talos Principle VR as an excellent puzzle game that translates remarkably well to VR, with compelling philosophical themes and thoughtfully designed challenges that range from accessible to extremely complex. The main complaints center on physical comfort issues—some players find extended play sessions exhausting and note the game can be visually bright in VR, though the variety in movement options and pacing between puzzles help mitigate motion sickness concerns for newcomers.

I recently bought the Serious Sam VR bundle on sale for £10.24. Included was The Talos Principle VR game. I am a 68 year old who, prior to my Quest 3 headset, had not been a “gamer”, so had not even played ANY Xbox etc. console games. I bought a PC laptop (the Acer Predator Helios 300 1TB SSD, Intel Core i7 11th gen, 16GB ram, GPU = Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, Windows 11, 2.40 GHz processor speed) in order to play Half Life Alyx and other PCVR games. Two days ago I fired up The Talos Principle VR game, and was absolutely amazed by how good it was! Other reviewers, of the bundle, have said that the price was worth it just for this brilliant puzzles based VR game… they are correct! It was released in 2017, so when I got stuck… I could consult one of the many YouTube play through videos to find the solution. I try not to do this, preferring to sit and ponder the possibilities before doing so. Yesterday I spent the best part of an hour on one puzzle, eventually working it out myself, which was REALLY satisfying. The graphics, music, in fact EVERYTHING about the game is really first rate. I would rate it an AA if not AAA title… in my eyes. I played using my Q3 and Virtual Desktop, and can’…

Amazing world filled with philosophy, mystery and contemplation that opened my eyes and touched my soul. Some puzzles also portrayed the importance and immense beauty in teamwork, through the use of machinery helping each other progress further. It was a lot of fun to stream to someone whom actually had the patience to properly watch me solve each puzzle without losing interest, and quietly too. I'm grateful to that rare individual. But even when I played alone, it was still interesting and enjoyable, especially when I was reaching the true ending. Some insanely complex puzzles were as astonishing and fun as they were painful, to solve. I'm honestly impressed at how they were even thought out and made. Thank you Croteam for making this philosophical series, a surprising yet secretly complementary addition to your Serious Sam one.

i don't know what i expected honestly. the game is okay, but it's a bummer that the vr version is extra and not included with the normal version and there is no bundle. the first worlds run well on the frame but the game should've been a free or maybe up to 5$ dlc and not a full price game again

I like The Talos Principle, but this VR version is unplayable for me. No matter what I did for my Meta Quest 3 I could not get rid of shimmering on edges and on shadows. And the performance not great either with frequent studdering and framedrops even when I turned performance settings all the way down. I have a quite powerful PC and the 2D version runs just fine in 120fps, UHD, HDR and everything on Ultra. But on VR it suffers even on low to medium settings. Not acceptable.

Highly recommend this puzzler. Looks really good and has a wide range of difficulty for the puzzles (and there are a lot of them). Sit down when it’s time to read the lore from the computer terminals, if you choose to read everything. There’s a lot! After finishing Talos, it also includes a DLC/ a second game called The Road To Gehenna. Harder puzzles there, but so worth it so far! Bought the publisher’s Serious Sam bundle that included Talos. Really good deal: this game only cost $2.50 when bundled with all five or so games. I’m at 44hrs and in the middle of Gehenna right now.
