STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight - Mysteries of the Sith™

Continuation of Dark Forces II, Mysteries of the Sith uses an upgraded version of the Sith Engine with slight software enhancements, most notably of model’s quality and visual effects. They aren't big enough to make a great difference, but sometimes it's noticeable that things look sharper or have more particles than they used to. What's noticeable at all times - are changes to the gameplay, level design and plot. [i][b]Gameplay[/b][/i] of the predecessor was very simple, I'd even say casual, and the main reason was intelligence of the enemies: while they would walk around and position themselves somewhat strategically, as well as have decent accuracy, it was easy to outmaneuver them, for even moderate amount of strafing around was enough to make them miss significant amount of their shots. Thus, most of the time you'd spend running around like madman, trying to always stay in motion while exercising own accuracy to land a shot on the move. It was a basic yet satisfying run-and-gun experience that required more than standing in one place and shooting until enemy dies. In addition to that, there was an option to wield a lightsaber, becoming a nigh unstoppable menace to everyone aro…

Mysteries of the Sith feels like a natural step up in difficulty from Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, to the point that certain challenges feel even a bit unfair, but the point of this expansion is really to be clever about it which is told through the level design. For an expansion, there is a surprising amount of content. It comes relatively close to feeling as large as the original. Some levels are genuinely fun and exciting, with big open areas to explore, while others are mildly frustrating and confusing. Unfortunately, every level shares the same recurring problem: where the f*** do you go? Navigation was already confusing in Dark Forces II, but it is noticeably worse here. I had to use YouTube tutorials several times, and the final encounter in the game would have been impossible to understand without one. Figuring things out yourself can be rewarding, but I guarantee you'll eventually need help. Despite the frustration it was absolutely worth playing through for me. Is it perfect? Far from it. Is it worth it? I think so. To put it simply: If you really liked the first game and want more, this is it for sure.

Unless you want to have nostalgia for the games or loved older games than me, then I suggest this game is not for you. Although the story of Mara Jade is awesome canon or not, this game is literally the same in the previous game with some changing in mechanics, enemies and more force power for you to struggle when to use them. Graphic is absolutely ugly as ♥♥♥♥ that need remastered mods and CRASH which is the final straw for me.

A great game that is sadly hindered by the fact that you don't know where you are going half the time. Getting to experience Mara Jade was a blast, though. And this game is a must if you wish to continue Kyle Katarn's story into the Dark Side. Overall its a good game, but not as good as the one before this one. 7/10
