About Western Press
Western Press is a rapid-fire button-mashing duel game where you compete against up to 16 players online or locally by pressing random sequences of buttons faster than your opponents. It strips competitive gaming down to its purest form with multiple input options, customizable difficulty, tournament modes, and Steam Workshop support for creating wild custom characters and environments.
Features
No Time to Explain
Learning to play is incredibly simple: Buttons go top to bottom, do them fast. A duel takes seconds, and a 16 player tournament takes minutes. So just how good is your guest list’s controller knowledge, and just how fast are their reactions? Submit your answer in ten buttons or less. (Not less, you'll lose. Do ten.)
As Easy as A, B, Square, Triangle
Custom settings allow you to control which buttons are used, so combos are as complicated as you’d like them to be, from directions only to the full gamut. Western Press features prompts for Xbox controllers, PlayStation controllers, dance mats, and supports a large range of third party controllers. Of course, who could forget our friends on keyboards...
Not My Type
Keyboarding cow-folk can expertly type their opponent to death. With a choice between ten letter words, random gibberish, or our not-trademarked "Controller, Replicated" layouts, discover which best suits your style, select it, and \ \ \! (They're letters. From the keyboard.)
Online and Local Tournaments for Humans and Machines Alike
Hold custom tournaments for from two to 16 competitors with any mix of local players, online players and bots. The tournament system works out all the match-ups for you, so you get to just sit back and relax. Until it’s your turn. Then stop relaxing because it’s time for extreme and relentless stress.
A Test of Character
Create a profile and play through the Skill Tester to earn your rank, while simultaneously unlocking some of Western Press’ wild bunch. You start with four playable characters, but you’ll have to earn the other 12 by playing the game. Is there anyone fast enough to unlock Wyatt Hurt?
Stroll Down Memory Lane
Fancy yourself more intellect than athlete? Try Memory Mode, where players must memorise and repeat an ever increasing string of buttons. But make more mistakes than your opponent, and you eat lead.
Steam Workshop Support
Create custom characters and environments with your own animations, sounds and taunts. Then share them with the community via Steam Workshop, where they’ll be downloaded dynamically at the beginning of an online tournament! Create yourself, your friends, your favourite characters, celebrities, politicians, inanimate objects with faces, whatever!

What Steam players say

Western Press is a charming, snappy party game with simple but intense quick-draw dueling mechanics that's easy to pick up and fun in short bursts, with a polished retro aesthetic that delivers exactly what it promises. However, players report significant technical issues including desyncs in multiplayer lobbies that can freeze the entire game, and complain that downtime between rounds drags on longer than the actual gameplay, which can make sessions feel padded. While most appreciate the game's focused design and reasonable price point, some note the content is quite limited and a few encount
Desyncs are really bad. If a lobby is even half full, at least 1 player will definitely see different pairs of players duelling on their client. And until a desynced player leaves, the whole lobby will be stuck at "waiting for players". Also, the downtimes are too long. Basically, the waiting time between the rounds is much longer than rounds themselves.1 found this helpful

Fun little game, easy playstyle, there is one Achievement that will not work for me though which is annoying, still a good game for the price, IMO.
Fun party game easy to pick up and play
Western Press is a fast-paced competitive party game developed by Bandit-1 and published by Surprise Attack that transforms the classic Wild West quick-draw duel into a reflex-based challenge built around speed and precision. Rather than focusing on complex shooting mechanics or elaborate Western storytelling, the game centers on an extremely simple concept: two gunslingers face off, and the fastest player to correctly input a sequence of commands wins the duel. This minimalist approach creates a gameplay experience that is easy to understand but surprisingly intense, as every duel becomes a brief but high-pressure test of concentration and reaction speed. The game’s theme draws inspiration from the iconic imagery of the American frontier, where rival gunslingers settle disputes through lightning-fast showdowns in dusty towns. While Western Press does not attempt to tell a detailed story, it uses the Western setting to frame its competitive gameplay. Characters resemble exaggerated frontier archetypes such as outlaws, lawmen, and wandering gunfighters, and the game’s presentation often plays with the clichés of classic Western films. This lighthearted interpretation of the genre h…
I got this game for $0.79. I really only cared about the character Gale, but I beat the game so fast I still have to do random stuff so I can hit the 2 hour mark and buy her Steam Point Shop sticker. The game's pretty nice and all, but Gale's all that really matters in the end Praying the developer(s) return to make official art for her like they did for the Trading Card characters (probably not gonna happen) For a $0.79 game, it's some nice fun. You get to see all the locations and unique characters in this western setting, and you challenge your fingers a little while you do. You can see even more characters if you do a bot tournament (online tournaments aren't real). For a $5 game, you got scammed. Refund it quick, and wait for a sale!
