Survive a deadly train and uncover the dark origins of the Resident Evil saga by switching between rookie cop Rebecca Chambers and escaped convict Billy Coen as you solve puzzles and fight horrific creatures. This beautifully remastered prequel features completely rebuilt HD visuals, enhanced audio, modernized controls, and bonus Wesker Mode to experience the nightmare that started it all.
The story of Resident Evil 0 takes players back to 1998. Reports have been mounting about unusual murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. The city’s Special Forces division, S.T.A.R.S., sends their Bravo Team - including rookie cop member Rebecca Chambers - to investigate. On route, the team’s helicopter suffers engine trouble and is forced to make a crash landing, where they find an overturned prisoner transport vehicle. Splitting up to search the area, Rebecca discovers the Ecliptic Express, a train stopped dead on the tracks. Inside, she meets death row convict and ex-Navy lieutenant Billy Coen. Throughout the game, you will take control of both Rebecca and Billy, at times switching between both characters in order to proceed. Learning the advantages of each character is the key to solving puzzles and surviving the nightmares that lie ahead.

This game didn't age well. Controls are clunky, inventory management system is painful, already getting tired from too many door animations in the first level. Even resident evil 6 would have a higher chance to get remake than RE0. No wonder Rebecca and Billy were vaulted and don't appear in the new RE games.1 found this helpful
Most tedious, annoying game ever. Give the game a try if you are already a Resident Evil fan but go play a different game first if you are new to the franchise.

To say this game is a piece of crap is an understatement, I think it's easily arguably it's the worst RE game, and also just a bad game in general. Ton of pointless backtracking due to design choices, the very little story there is badly delivered, beyond what is the usual for the older RE games. Bad encounters and map design, a poor attempt at trying to ape RE1 and RE2 more or less. Unless you REALLY care about going through every RE game, there's honestly not any value to playing this game.
