About Resident Evil Revelations

✦ AI summary

Survive horror-filled locations from a cursed cruise ship to a devastated city as Jill and Chris uncover the truth behind a deadly virus, with resource-scarcity survival gameplay that demands every bullet counts. Jump into the co-op Raid Mode to fight endless enemy waves across varied missions while leveling up characters and unlocking new weapons, or tackle the remixed Infernal difficulty that will surprise even series veterans.

Resident Evil®\ Revelations returns redefined for PC complete with high quality HD visuals, enhanced lighting effects and an immersive sound experience. This latest version of Resident Evil Revelations will also deliver additional content including a terrifying new enemy, extra difficulty mode, integration with ResidentEvil.net and improvements to Raid Mode. Raid Mode, which was first introduced to the series in the original version of Resident Evil Revelations, sees gamers play online in co-op mode or alone in single player taking on the hordes of enemies across a variety of missions whilst leveling up characters and earning weapon upgrades. New weapons, skill sets, and playable characters including Hunk, take the Raid Mode experience to new depths.

The critically acclaimed survival horror title takes players back to the events that took place between Resident Evil®\ 4 and Resident Evil®\ 5, revealing the truth about the T-Abyss virus. Resident Evil Revelations features series favorites Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield, plus their respective BSAA partners - Parker Luciani and Jessica Sherawat. The action begins on board a supposedly abandoned cruise ship, the ‘Queen Zenobia’, where horrors lurk around every corner, before players head for the mainland and the devastated city of Terragrigia. With limited ammo and weapons available, the race is on to survive the horror of Resident Evil Revelations.

Key Features\

  • Enhanced visual and aural fidelity \– Resident Evil Revelations brings spine-chilling fear complete with high quality HD visuals, enhanced lighting effects and an immersive sound experience.
  • Classic survival horror gameplay returns \– the campaign mode’s single player experience sees gamers investigating a range of different locations including the dark confined spaces of a cruise ship and the treacherous snow covered mountains. With limited ammo and weapons, fight off infected enemies that lurk around every corner.
  • Hell just got hotter \– Infernal Mode, a new difficulty mode for the re-mastered HD edition, is not just more challenging than Easy and Normal modes but also remixes enemy and item placement, so even those familiar with the game will discover new terrors.
  • Meet the Wall Blister \– A brand new enemy, the Wall Blister is a mutated creature borne from the T-Abyss virus that spreads through water, adding to the horrors that lurk around every corner.
  • Residentevil.net support \– Resident Evil Revelations will take full advantage of Residentevil.net with content available to users once the game launches. Earn weapons and custom parts and use them in-game, collect figures that can be used in dioramas and check your stats through the online web service.

It's cool and fun, as far as I remember it's kinda clunky and plays like a fever dream.

I really wanted to like this game as its basically my dream setting for a survival horror title, but wow - never before has a game's characters been so truly awful that they straight up put me off finishing the story. This game has some truly heinous characters and dialogue (with the exception of Jill/Chris, being pre-established characters...), and the ones that aren't actively painful to spend time around are just boring, if... inoffensive. The gameplay and exploration - whilst okay, doesn't make up the difference to make it worth spending time with. There's a slight awkwardness to everything where you can tell the game started life as a 3DS title - it doesn't feel particularly satisfying to dispatch enemies, which makes the great-in-theory Raid Mode also kind of fall flat.

The story was a little all over, but I had a lot of fun! Beginning was a little spooky which is fun! I enjoyed the scanning mechanic and I really enjoyed the weapons, upgrade system, and gunplay! Dodging was silly and should have had an on screen prompt. Now onto RE:R2!

Revelations is the series that really got me into RE. I love this game and, for me, it is up there with RE4 (both original and remake) and RE9, which are my all time favorites.

RE Revelations is a game I didn't realize I was missing out on until I played it. Granted there are limitations in the game due to the fact that it originally was developed for 3DS. But that did not stop me from enjoying it. Its a straight forward Resident Evil game, with an interesting plot and enjoyable gameplay. 8/10
