Tomb Raider III (1998) (2012)

The next entry in the incredible Tomb Raider first years. TR3 was the first time where the old engine started to feel old. It's still a beautiful game with deeply evoking locations. This time, Lara races around the world to gather four artifacts tucked in remote locations. For the first time, you can select which order you play the midgame, all are mandatory anyways regardless of the order. The game starts in India, probably the best looking section. After the mostly artificial and human cities from TR2, this sequel tried to emphazise that sense of wonder and mystery of nature, at least in these first levels. Lara is again mostly fighting against animals and some mythological creatures. Each section ends with a boss fight, with most being just shooting until they drop dead. The mid section features three sections: Nevada, London and South Pacific Islands. They cannot be more different. The deserts of Nevada give place for the infamous Area 51 and its secrets, London features the city rooftops at night and a museum, while the Pacific Islands take place in lost temples deep in an island. of the original trilogy, this is by far the worst one. i have had almost nothing but a horrible time plaything through this ♥♥♥♥. because you can save anywhere the devs decided that it would be the most fun to just make the game a miserable experience. out of all of the games i have never saved so many times in a per room basis just to save a few seconds that i never wanted to replay. not only not finishing the game before this review, but i soft locked myself in a deathloop on the final boss, so that is awesome, love this ♥♥♥♥. gameplay is literally more of the same, you get access to a few more movement options like ceiling climbing, but the climeable textures are so poorly done that half the time i would forget to even look up to traverse a gap. other than that guns are the exact same, some weapons turned into others to keep the roster interesting. music is honestly great, it is nice to actually have music and some of it is really fun to listen to, or weird, and it has so many horror stings that a couple actually got me to flinch. i don't really know much of the story because the sound effects are louder than the voice acting so it is not only already hard to unde…

What a game. Never got past the second stage in my entire life. 10/10

This game brings back fond memories. The first trilogy was at the time, groundbreaking. T3 was and still is, in my opinion, the best of the bunch.
