It's a pity that Tomb Raider 6 is in this bundle because that is what really brings this down. TR 4 & TR 5 are OK games, but TR 6 isn't just the worst Tomb Raider game, it's one of the worst games period. Be brave before you attempt it because it is worse than you probably think.1 found this helpful
TR4 - The last Tomb Raider to be very scattered in structure and it'll become quite apparent why once played through. This game requires interacting with things without prompts sometimes and doesn't let you really have any room for your own creativity. There are many out-of-box-thinking puzzles in order to progress--but that require only one hyper-specific solution without much logic. It's much longer than it needs to be, but with less backtracking than the previous 3 games. On the other hand, the pyramid levels are very well made, definitely a highlight for me. 5/10 TR5 - A very large leap in linearity but without stripping away the puzzles which is just what this series needed. The submarine level is quite shocking in terms of photosensitivity. I'm not someone who is prone to something like epilepsy but wow I'm surprised there's no option to turn off or tone down the amount of flickering so be aware of that. The Gallows section has landed as my favorite Tomb Raider levels across all 6 games; the atmosphere and artistic direction of it is amazing--even on original graphics. LEAVE ME ALONE, I'M BUSY!
I played TR 4, now I'm on TR 5. The game mechanics are identical to TR 4 but with the addition of a few new features, like tightrope walking and a couple of other things. TR 5 is an interesting mish-mash of four different adventures for Lara Croft. One of the adventures takes place in Ireland, which I liked and is loosely (?) based on actual Irish folklore. Lara seemed to be an adolescent/early teen in that one. TR 4 takes place entirely in Egypt. It's a long game and there is a fair amount of backtracking to previous areas which isn't a big thing, really. There were a lot of good depictions of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and I think a few of the artifacts may be based on real life ones. I haven't made it to TR 6 yet. Anyway, this is my little say about Tomb Raiders 4 and 5.
Couldn't make it past the second jump.
