No Place Like Home (2022)

It had good potential, the laidback cutsey nature of it was really appealing, but alas it appears to be left in limbo with bugs etc. The developer also appears to have reused the assets in a newer game of a similar nature. Pretty janky to play - mouse control is pretty bad and some areas are clearly in need of polishing. The final area and boss is pretty rushed, took only 5-10 minutes to complete verse the couple hours in each other zone and it felt pretty lack luster in the end. Okay for a one time playthrough. Only loaded up a second save to complete an achievement that was locked out in my main save.

I was very much enjoying playing the game. Yes, some jank, but not game breaking (adjusting mouse sensitivity up made it much more bearable) but after playing for hours in my first play session, I loaded back in ready to pick up where I left off and found 5 hours of previous play time vanished. I exited the first session immediately after the daily autosave happened, and the exit prompt confirmed that it had been 0 minutes since the last save. Apparently not. Looking in the Discussions area, this has been an issue for years now.

Feels like baby dev's first cozy game without any of the love that other cozy games come with. Unpolished and buggy. Definitely don't recommend.

Short version: The game was early access for a long time and it seems like once they made an end to the storyline they just kicked it out the door and didn't bother to polish anything else. There's massive game breaking bugs everywhere, there's dozens of items that are just "dead-ends" (cannot be used in crafting/cooking and can't be converted into either of the game's 2 currencies.), and the story/questlines are absolutely impossible to understand, both in content and instruction, due to an extremely bad English translation. Not to mention that even on my system while running the game on medium settings this game would regularly drop to 40 FPS. If you want a game like this, just get Loddlenauts for basically the exact same idea but made competently. The whole premise of the game, from what I can understand through the horrible translation, is that you need to find your grandfather that chose to stay on Earth when all of humanity left to go to Mars. When you arrive on Earth every single square inch is covered in piles of trash that can only be picked you with a special vacuum and drill you have. Amazing Harvest Moon-like game, with added addicting clean up ! 10/10

Very relaxing. While there is combat, it's very light and it isn't a blocker to enjoying the game.
