Farlands

Too much walking.

A release and nothing meaningful added to direct your play, the only direction remains the same, go to another planet and possibly then ???. This sort of game usuely has a well planned tutorial for the first hour, this doesn't appear to have one at all.

I'm recommending Farlands because, after 13 hours, I still want to keep playing. That's usually the biggest sign that a game is doing something right. That said, Farlands is a game still searching for its identity. It borrows ideas from a lot of other titles, farming, crafting, exploration, progression systems and while none of these elements are bad on their own, they don't always come together into something that feels uniquely Farlands yet. At times it feels like it's trying to do a little bit of everything instead of fully committing to what makes it special. Despite that, there's a charm here that's hard to ignore. The art style is cute, the world is pleasant to spend time in and the constant easter eggs and references to games, books and internet memes gave me plenty of laughs during my first few hours. There are also some genuinely nice quality-of-life ideas that could be added. Unlocking a portal to the ARK at your base, for example, would save a lot of backtracking and would show that the developers are thinking about player convenience. El juego está bastante desbalanceado. El dinero se consigue muy fácil en la primera estación del año. En las primeras horas sin querer desbloquié la caña de pescar y red avanzados sin tan siquiera encontrar las básicas. No entendía como usarlas porque el tutorial solo aparece cuándo encuentras la caña básica pero yo compré la siguiente primera. Llegué a mejorar el primer nivel de todas mis herramientas e instalé muchas mejoras a mi nave sin tan siquiera saber dónde se encontraba la mina porque todos los objetos requeridos para mejorar la nave se podían comprar. Lo de agrandar el tanque de energía de la nave no tiene sentido porque cuesta muy poco y se puede mejorar al maximo de una. Para eso que pusieran una sola mejora más cara y no tenía que hacer click tantas veces. Al final desbloquié el cofre grande también antes de encontrar el cofre pequeño porque esa parte de la historia no la encontré hasta luego de 4 horas jugando. El juego tiene muchos objetos y sistemas pensados para mejorar gradualmente pero luego te deja saltar pasos muy fácilmente y desbloqueas la versión mejorada de algo sin tan siquiera haber desbloqueado el objeto base primero. Llevo muy poco pero estoy muy enganchado, por un lado siento que es muy facil hacer dinero y escalar, por otro hay bastante por hacer y las mejoras tambien escalan en costos. El loop es muy agradable, sobretodo la mecanica de la nave. Estoy todo el tiempo pensando alrededor de ella y hace que el tiempo y recursos se interpreten de varios flacos. PD: Tiene un par de bugs, pero son todos visuales o pequeños detalles, nada que joda la experiencia
