About The Last Caretaker
The world you knew is gone. You awaken as the last active Caretaker, a machine built for one purpose: save humanity. Across a vast ocean covering the ruins of Earth, you must recover human seeds, restore the Lazarus Complex, and prepare the next generation for launch into orbit. The Last Caretaker is a first-person survival-crafting game about systems, choices, and purpose. Every resource matters. Every structure has a reason to exist. Every success gives humanity one more chance.
SAVE HUMANITY
Recover human seeds and return them to the Lazarus Complex. Manage their growth, restore memory data, and prepare them for life beyond Earth.BUILD WHAT YOU NEED
Scavenge abandoned facilities, dismantle wreckage, and recycle materials into tools, weapons, power networks, and essential modules. Restore the machinery needed to keep the mission alive.DEFEND THE FUTURE
Rogue machines, hostile systems and the world itself will push back. Repair and maintain, upgrade your equipment, and protect what remains.LAUNCH TO THE STARS
Restore ancient launch infrastructure, chart the ocean, gather resources and memories, and send the humans you raised into orbit. The mission is not survival for its own sake. It is a continuation.A WORLD WITH HISTORY
Explore silent Sanctuary docks, Refuel Outposts, Underwater cities, and long-forgotten Seed Vaults. The story is uncovered through places, logs, memories, and the remains of a civilization that tried to outlive its own world. What Steam players say

I will update this review after release --- Please, I beg you Channel37, do NOT add DEI to this beautiful game. There's plenty enough games to appease that mob and so many gaming houses are gone as a result. This new water-soaked game is a joy to play and it's not even out yet, it's amazing and just getting better every update. The world map is growing and I hope they can keep expanding the open world. Maybe a small 'barge' to tow would help with moving materials and fuels - plus an option to build a helipad on it. I have put nearly 200 hours in and have not started the launch missions, nor grown the humans, only the seed pods and all repairs, pods/power/water/foods/memories are all completed, including a full restore of the Lazarus complex and it's now time for me to stop. So many other games to catch up on and the final release of this one will be a nice fresh start with a little hindsight and knowledge :)
This game has me hooked. I like survival/exploration/crafting games and this one does excellent at all of it. For early access, it has a ton of content. If you like this genre, i totally recommend this game. To the devs; well done!
This game is the best game!!!!!
Yes, with caveats. In the devs own words, this is a game about distance and systems. In other words... fetch quests and figuring out the somewhat repetitive puzzles to get resources to power systems to bring platforms back online and save humanity??? And the combat feels more like pest control with the exception of the turret balls. To be fair, there are some creative ideas here in terms of enemy type, but they could stand to be a bit more fleshed out. Oh and, flame throwers are god in this game. It's not bad, just be prepared for some things to be grindy for the sake of it.
Good game ruined by the human creation mechanic (recipes). I have enjoyed the game but have stopped due to this part of the game. I may return once this process has been updated or changed.
This is an addicting game and very enjoyable.
