About Selaco

✦ AI summary

Fight through a massive space station during a violent invasion as ACE Security Captain Dawn Collins, blasting destructible environments with smart enemies that communicate and adapt to your every move. This F.E.A.R.-inspired shooter combines intense action set pieces with Half-Life-style exploration in one seamless campaign, backed by a full original soundtrack and deep weapon customization that evolves alongside enemy threats.

Selaco is a brand new original shooter inspired by classics, featuring thrilling action set pieces, destructibility, smart enemies and a fleshed out story taking place within an immersive game world. It draws inspiration heavily from F.E.A.R. in terms of action set pieces, while mixing exploration elements from Half-Life, along with some more modern features.
The story takes place during a violent invasion on Selaco, a massive space station sheltering the last refugees after Earth’s fall just a few years prior. You play as Dawn Collins, an ACE Security Captain who, with her recent promotion and high level security clearances, is digging deep into the truth behind Selaco's murky history. Before she can finish her investigation, Selaco is rocked by explosions and armed invaders.
  • A lengthy adventure-driven campaign
Selaco offers a massive, uninterrupted journey packed with action and atmosphere. Explore a wide range of environments in a fully connected world - no cutaways, no time jumps, just seamless momentum from start to finish.
  • Intense Action set pieces
Blast through your environment with impactful weapons that really leave a mark on the world. That once lavish office space, now nothing but a pile of rubble with broken paintings, smashed tables, screen, chairs, smoke, and chunks of debris.
  • Custom AI
Selaco’s AI was built from the ground up for dynamic, coordinated combat. Enemies communicate, flank, suppress, and adapt to your tactics - keeping pressure when you're aggressive or rushing when you're vulnerable. Hundreds of voiced lines hint at their next move, making every fight feel alive.
  • Full soundtrack
Selaco features an original, full-length soundtrack composed by Lawrence Steele, with over 3 hours of neon-tinged electronica spanning from high-intensity combat tracks to immersive, atmospheric soundscapes.
  • Adapt & Overcome
As enemies evolve and gain access to new tools, so do you. Improve your weaponry with new utility upgrades, or transform weapon behavior entirely with Weapon Kits.
  • Replayability
Selaco is designed with replayability in mind. Jump into Randomizer Mode to experience remixed mechanics, exclusive enemies, and fully customizable chaos. Or test your skills in Incursion Mode (coming later during Early Access), an endless survival challenge set in Deathmatch-style arenas.

I'm on the second level. Very fun game so far! I kinda suck at using the slide-move mechanics when fighting, but I'm still getting by and enjoying it. The one kind-of downside is that it's a little easy to forget to pull a switch or open a door at times -- basically the "I want to clear the room/area first... forgot that there was a door in that one office that I never opened" situation. So I have spent some time wandering around for quite a while until finally finding the switch/door I missed. (It doesn't give precise "Objective" pins on its map.) I think an option to show where you need to go next to progress, in case you get kinda tired of wandering, would be a nice addition, if it were presented in a non-4th-wall-breaking kind of way, only after you've been near the place but it's been like 30 minutes of gameplay since then. This game has Half-Life style enemies, rather than DOOM or Supplice style ones (Supplice is a phenomenal game, by the way). In other words, fewer of them, and they're actually smart (they don't just stand out in the open), and they're harder to kill. I like the graphical style a lot. It's built on uzdoom (gzdoom descendant) AFAIK, and it has voxels fo…

I'm halfway through the game on the easiest difficulty and the fights don't feel remotely fair. The worst is I spend almost all of my time lost.

Selaco is seriously a great boomer shooter. In fact, it's kind of a mixture of the fast paced high intensity action of a boomer shooter with some great environmental story telling with the level design of something like Half Life. The game is seriously challenging, you'll die a lot, but it's a ton of fun all the way through. Some of the complaints are about getting lost in levels, that must have been patched out because there are green lights guiding you to your next objective. The level design is great over all. The combat is intense. The music fits in perfectly. I love how it's not always all action too with some empty sections scattered around while you enjoy the scenario. If you're interested in boomer shooters, this is a must play. It's crazy to think only 1 episode of 3 is out and this is so polished. I would honestly say this is worth it just for the first episode alone.

Easily my favorite game of the past decade. The combat is fast paced, visceral, and requires skill. The world building is staggering (considering it is built on GZDoom). I'm a casual gamer, yet I'm on my 5th playthrough, all but counting the days until Chapter 2 releases. The world casually awaits GTA6, I impatiently await Selaco Chapter 2.
