About Planet Alcatraz

Planet Alcatraz is a 3D role playing game with isometric projection. The player travels through the game world and fights against enemies in the real-time mode. In a general sense Planet Alcatraz can be portrayed as a non-linear adventure with lots of shooting. Several genres are mixed in this game but despite that fact it isn't stuck between them and appears to be a classical RPG that is based on a specially developed system.

The action takes place on prison planet Alcatraz. Its inhabitants are inveterate criminals that were banished there for the life term for their terrible crimes. The main objective of the game is to control a sabotage group that consists of the only one person in the beginning and enlarges through the game. The player has to use all sorts of resources and means to accomplish the mission.

Key features:
  • Absolutely unique universe
  • Creation of the main character allows changing basic characteristics and appearance including facial animation based on LifeMode technology
  • Tense atmosphere determined by deep immersion to planet's criminal world
  • Comprehensive dialogue system allowing the player to choose the way of behaving and communication on his own
  • More than 100 kinds of cold steel and firearms
  • More than 200 characters involved in dialogues
  • More than 80 original monsters, including flying and poisonous
  • Fights and adventures with different behavioral and battle options
  • Original sounds and music

Racist, sexist anti-PC crap from a Putinite Z bot. It's painful because it's decent as a slavjank Fallout clone, but the egregious anti-PC contents make it unbearable. I just can't get through this. It doesn't help that the start of the game is quite slow, with the main character running errands in prison. The racism only gets worse. Doesn't seem like there is any option to play the role of someone who is not a bald military man, happily crushing a rebellion for the interplanetary Russian empire. This is like sci-fi Tyranny made by someone who actually supports the evil tyrant in real life. I don't think I can give this a rating because as a mid-2000s RPG, it would probably be a 2.5- or 3-star experience, but I'm not willing to give this more than three hours of my life Короче, игра для алкашей из посёлка городского типа, которые никогда не слышали о партии кроме Единой России, и никогда не сталкивались с чернокожими людьми.

Satire is probably my favorite kind of humor. That is exactly what I expected from "Planet Alcatraz": exaggeration, allusions, and biting mockery of society and ideology. The game has all of that, but my biggest disappointment was not the gameplay with all its broken mechanics. It was how often its satire sinks into cheap shock humor. But first, the game itself. It is a fairly linear isometric RPG with real-time combat and tactical pause. The stats, skills and progression are fairly average in my opinion, but there are quite a few tactical options. You can move and shoot while prone, crouching or standing, walk or run, and all of this affects range and accuracy. There is stealth, surprise attacks, sight and hearing, so enemies are revealed as you explore. The weapon selection is broad enough, ranging from melee and thrown weapons to grenades and several classes of firearms. The skill system is often bloated and at times almost unfair to the player. For example, investing in "Imperial Weapons" is nearly pointless: those weapons only become available near the end of the game, while their ammunition is unique and impossible to replenish. The game also gives you no warning that ordin…

Great game, very funny! See the community page for the instructions for how to install the game patch that fixes a lot of bugs and stuttering. The game doesn't work without the fix but once applied, it runs pretty smoothly. If you're interested in the Russian version, change the language in the steam game settings which will install a separate game version and then go to the community page and install the Russian game fix to run on modern computers. Enjoy!
