✦ AI summary

Iterform is a minimalist puzzle-platformer with a cloning mechanic that divides players sharply—some appreciate its experimental design and atmospheric approach to spatial problem-solving, while others find it among the many low-quality pixel platformers flooding Steam and feel it lacks technical polish and basic features expected of paid games. Most critical players suggest it is not worth purchasing even at discounted prices, with comparisons made to superior free alternatives available elsewhere.

iterform is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This one is extremely minimalist and features the gimmick where you can clone yourself (which teleports you back to the start but leaves a "copy" of yourself that you can use as a platform or block for some of the grey boxes that move around as a hazard. Which is I guess maybe slightly more depth than your average endless runner, and at that point you should see we're comparing a poke in the eye to a kick in the shin here as far as "quality gaming" is concerned. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The graphics here are some of the worst, laziest attempt at video game "art" I've ever seen. It's hard to suggest this game even has graphics. It's just untextured, basic pixel blocks and blobs, the kind that an infant child might be able to create in 5 minutes on MS Paint. It's clear the developer didn't even try to produce any real graphics for the game and just phoned it in. It's unclear why such a lazy approach was taken, whether it may be c…

Iterform is the kind of indie game that immediately separates itself from mainstream puzzle-platformers through atmosphere, abstraction, and an almost uncompromising commitment to minimalist game design. Developed by Evgeny Petrov and published by Not a Prototype games, the title presents itself less as a traditional adventure and more as an experimental interactive experience built around movement, environmental interaction, and spatial problem-solving. Rather than guiding players through a heavily scripted story or filling the world with combat encounters and cinematic spectacle, Iterform strips its design down to its purest elements and challenges players to interpret the world through observation, experimentation, and logic. The result is a game that feels mysterious, immersive, and intellectually engaging, even if its unconventional structure and minimalistic approach may alienate players expecting a more accessible or narrative-driven experience. From its opening moments, Iterform establishes an atmosphere of isolation and uncertainty. The player is placed inside a strange abstract world with almost no explanation regarding its purpose, history, or rules. There are no length…
