World to the West

This is totally unique, the store page says based off of British comics. There are 4 characters and the landscape is designed around their abilities. You start with one character at a time, and you can only reach certain areas at a later point when you have the others. Then they team up in 2 pairs, and you switch back and forth between them at totems/save points, and it doesn’t take much catching up to get them to the same place, but you are doing the same thing twice. Then all 4 met together, and I stopped playing. Before there was one glowing spot on the map you had to trek to, or a linear plot. Then there were 2 different spots in opposite directions and no clue as to which character goes which way. I tried one way and it wasn’t working and I tried the other way, I kept getting stuck. No way am I going to separately maneuver 4 characters to the same place with a set of limitations each, and not even knowing if I’m going the right way. The puzzle aspect of traversal is clearly well thought out, I might have just hit a hard part. I didn’t have the mental endurance or patience to make it through, but if you enjoy getting lost in a deeply complex map system, there is a lot of conten…

Developed and published by Rain Games, World to the West is an engaging action-adventure that expands upon the universe introduced in Teslagrad while telling a completely independent story. Rather than revisiting the side-scrolling gameplay of its predecessor, the game adopts a top-down perspective that emphasizes exploration, environmental puzzles, and character-driven progression. The result is a vibrant adventure that blends classic exploration mechanics with modern puzzle design, inviting players into a mysterious world filled with ancient civilizations, hidden secrets, and memorable personalities. Even without prior knowledge of Teslagrad, newcomers can easily immerse themselves in the game's setting and narrative. One of the game's defining strengths is its use of four distinct protagonists, each possessing unique skills and personal motivations. Lumina, a gifted Teslamancer, manipulates electricity to overcome obstacles; Knaus relies on agility and stealth to navigate dangerous situations; Miss Teri uses her remarkable mental powers to influence creatures and solve challenges; while Lord Clonington approaches problems through sheer physical strength and determination. Got through the first 2 of 9 chapters. Pretty darn simple and I lost interest.

This game put me to sleep. Cute. Maybe I'll let my future son play through it. 5/5

Really wanted to like this, because I loved both Teslagard. Both its just not good. There was a decent idea with potential here, but it was terrible executed. The result is a game so tedious I cannot force myself to finish
