Twell

RPG Maker strikes again! "Twell" is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. I guess there's a couple of things that have to be said about this RPG Maker asset flip. We all know that the vast majority of RPG Maker asset flips are just fan-fictions about the developers imaginary anime girlfriend, but this one isn't. An imaginary girlfriend would be too interesting. This, instead, is somehow both painfully generic and painfully boring. If "grey" was a flavour, this is it. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. It started up a bit slow for me the first hour or so but after that i got hooked. There are many great puzzles and fun items to mess around with. The world is nice and compact and exploring feels rewarding. I pretty much finished the game 100% with the exception of the hide and seek quest, i just cant find that girl.

Put me on the verge of falling asleep the whole half hour I was playing. The store page says it's not a story-based game instead it's supposed to be more focused on exploration. That part, however, felt fairly hollow.

It's a "maybe" for me. The story's interesting enough. And judging by the other positive review, good gameplay mechanics. But it would be good if you added key configuration and resolution adjustment. Would also be great if you added the ability to fight bare-handed, because I was struggling to get past the first skeleton when I woke up in the cell. It was literally blocking my path.

Great game. I had a lot of fun despite spending a lot of time grinding. The dev is very responsive and solved my 1 query very swiftly. I did have to view a couple of the videos on youtube when struggling, but overall completed the game after many hours exploring everywhere several times over.
