Age of Empires: Definitive Edition

Nostalgia pump :)

good back rounds and unexspected supprizes on maps.

Old time classic. Still an epic game

Fun gameplay and has a good soundtrack, a classic game with remastered graphics.

I remember Age of Empires from back in the day and this game is NOT that one. I don't know where along the line the code got ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up to where the game is nothing but total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to play. The pathing got totally screwed up, the game mechanics are off, the game mechanics are skewed to provide overbearing unbalanced scenarios that take so much away from game flow that there is no reason to play this game. Back when it originally came out, it was a good game with a game machine that flowed. Now it is just one of those save every three seconds to defeat the next "cheat" the game does as it ignores it own mechanics.

Many of the redesigned presentation aspects of the game are good, although I do miss things like the map/icon mission selection that the original had (the menu with labels is just kind of boring). The remaster music and graphics are all competent. Frustratingly, the devs didn't bother to fix up *any* of the original game's pathfinding/unit cohesion issues. Which above anything is probably the *one thing* to fix up. If those were fixed I'd recommend playing this game. And because of this I consider this remaster lazy. Get it on deep sale.
