Bound By Flame

This game is really good! The gameplay is like Witcher 1 (the best Witcher game) The game on normal is a good difficulty. I think it has a weird problem with daggers having a dodge and the 2h don't. So you are basically using the daggers since they can animation cancel out of your attacks to dodge, which give you dmg. Music is good, voice acting is ok, graphics are great, good amount of enemy spawn.

Bound by Flame is the second game from Spiders that I’ve played, after Mars: War Logs, and unfortunately, I’m still waiting to see a genuinely good game from this developer. I thought Mars: War Logs was absolutely terrible, and while Bound by Flame is slightly better, it still suffers from many of the same problems. The first thing that surprised me was finding out that Bound by Flame was released in 2014. I’m not expecting AAA-level production values from Spiders, and I understand that this was a much smaller-budget game. But even taking that into consideration, the game feels incredibly dated in ways that go beyond graphics. Vulcan is a pretty terrible protagonist, and unfortunately, the story does very little to make him interesting. There’s not much about him that made me care about his journey, and the writing overall didn’t give me much reason to become invested in what was happening. There are a few things I liked. The companion system is probably the best part—you can recruit companions, build relationships with them, and your decisions can affect those relationships. Constant crashing once I got to Valvenor. From talking to NPC to simply exploring or going to another area. Not really well polished and to think I didn't have this issue on other Spider games. Movement is clunky and combat is ass, your normal and heavy attacks is specifically design for 1v1 combat the problem is you are fighting multiple mobs at once so you are already at a disadvantage even before the fight starts and they don't take turn they will simultaneous attack you. Your damage is paltry and mobs hit so hard and can combo you to death that is just one mob remember you are fighting 3 or 4 at once and all of them have poise and can't stagger. Totally unbalance combat, boss fights are no better. This is one of few games I just gave up and not finishing and I hate doing that. Can't believe somebody outworse the Witcher 1 combat.

I can’t stand this game, and I can say that with absolute certainty because I beat it. I liked Spider’s Mars: War Logs, so I thought I’d try another one of their games, but this was like pulling teeth to finish. The story of this game is not compelling, the side quests are even less compelling, and this is the most floaty combat I may have ever played. Any attack feels like there’s 0 impact if you connect, and that just makes the game even less fun than it already is. I’m Bound By Shame that I even finished this thing 3/10
