About Empire Builder
Zombie Possum Games Inc, in collaboration with Darwin's Toys Inc, is excited to bring the Empire Builder series of board games to your PC. As fans of these games, we at Zombie Possum Games Inc sought more time in our busy lives to enjoy them. To our surprise, we couldn't find any playable versions online using the services that we love like Steam and Xbox. That changes now. With the release of Empire Builder - Europe and the license to offer all other installments in the franchise, we are partnering with Darwin's Toys to publish the latest versions on Steam, iOS, Xbox, and other platforms.
If you are an avid train gamer in the physical space, we hope you will enjoy our adaption of the board game to the digital game space.
Features to be included in the initial release include the following:
All of the game's resources, cities, demand cards and event cards, fully implemented in the digital game.
A select number of popular house rules. (TBD)
2-6 player multiplayer between Steam friends and those with a ZPG account.
A user interface that is designed to make the game play of the boardgame faster. Our goal is to get 4 player game play down to under an hour or 45 minutes for experienced players.
Tournament rules.
Current tournament approved map coming soon for the physical board game. (published by Darwin's Toys)
2009 map, cards and rules.
Planned features for after release.
MacOS support Xbox and controller support.
Additional languages.
This is the first in a series of Empire Builder games that we plan to release alongside Darwin's Toys' re-release of the physical board games. As avid players ourselves, this is a passion project; one we hope allows us to be able to play with our friends when getting together in person is less than ideal.

There was a recently released new edition of the board game. The art and the look and feel of this digital implementation match the physical game really well. I wish the tutorial was a little better in some areas. Moving the train isn't immediately intuitive, Nor is the auto-routing particularly good, If you want to go a specific route you need to draw it one line at a time with a pause in between. Which kind of slows route building down if you are fussy. The most important thing to me though is that there is no true solo play. How do you let that go at this point in time? There is a solo challenge, but that is just puzzle like. You are just trying to be most efficient with what you have. There is no competition. The potential is here if they could just fix up a few things. Preferably adding AI support for true competitive solo play.4 found this helpful
A faithful adaptation of one of my favorite board games (or series). Looks and plays like the tabletop game, with an easy-to-learn (and use) interface. Discord or similar allows you to voice chat with your opponents. ALL versions/maps have the card features of the Latest editions of the EB board game series, which highlight were you can pick up every load on each demand card, as well as where the actual delivery point is. So learning the game series, or an unfamiliar map, is MUCH faster in this version of the game. (Or the Modern reprints of the tabletop version) FEATURES AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME: Eurorails, 4th edition. (Circa 2009-2025) Eurorails, 2004 (pre-chunnel) Multiplayer Autosave games - to save games from disconnects, or to allow resuming play in the future. Solo Challenge Mode - beat your best! (stat tracking) Tutorial Available New Maps are coming. Improvements to the game's assist functions are being actively worked on. Great game, and (IMO) only getting better!3 found this helpful

Controls work well. I've always loved this game. This online version did not disappoint.3 found this helpful
I love the board games. My hope is I can introduce people who will love this as much as I do.3 found this helpful
I really like this tabletop game. I was really excited when I found it here as a digital game. I had a lot of trouble with it at the beginning because it kept freezing going through the tutorial. After several attempts and eventually skipping the tutorial, I was finally able to play it until I tried to maximize the screen which caused it to stop responding again. I recommend the game for the game play style, but the technical functioning of the game leaves a lot to be desired.
