Probably the best digital board game adaptation out there. People might not know this but CGE (the publisher of the original board game) maintains full control over their board game apps, developing them in-house. I don't know of any other publisher doing that, and it really makes a difference. Contrary to its inspiration (Sid Meier's Civilization) TtA has an excellent tutorial and it implements the game so well that many players prefer this version to the board game. I wouldn't go so far but I understand why - it's so much quicker and easier to play. The challenges and multiplayer options are great as well. Playing with random wonders and leaders from the base game and expansion is my favorite way, either online against friends or against the, again, excellent AI. There is a lot to explore here if you like civ-like games. And if you would like to learn the rules before playing the board game, starting here is also a good idea.

This is my favourite digital version of a board game. Its so nice to have the rules taken care of by the game itself. Its a mini card based version of Civ games. Skill, strategy and a bit of luck (card draw) is a perfect recipe for satisfactory gameplay. If learn the optimal combinations you can easily do well in this game.

Really well designed balanced game. At first it appears very complicated, but please give it a chance.

I went into this expecting a faithful recreation of the physical board game, but the lack of true AI ruins the illusion. Instead of drawing randomly, the game manipulates the card row, meaning the timing and position of the cards are entirely scripted—even if it dynamically adapts to your current actions. Furthermore, the AI opponents clearly collude. Instead of playing to win individually, they act as a single hive-mind, constantly making irrational decisions just to help each other counter you. It artificially creates challenging situations while rubber-banding to keep you from falling too far behind. Because of this, you aren't playing against opponents; you are just solving a sequence of scripted puzzles. While you could argue it works as a basic strategy trainer, the lack of an undo or save/load feature to test out different actions is a massive setback. Ultimately, it fails as a true board game experience because the AI defies human logic, and it fails as a learning tool because it doesn't let you experiment.

A flawless adaptation of an excellent board game. This digital version works great because it makes the game flow very smoothly. Runs perfectly on Mac. Highly recommend.
