Rum & Gun? More like Bore & Dom. The combat isn't satisfying and there are terrible gameplay choices that make playing this game tedious. You have a reload mechanic that slows you down to a crawl and with the typical reload mini-game of pressing the button once the slider passes a point on the reload bar. This can be turned off in the options but reloading shouldn't be a core gameplay mechanic and it is, since most weapons so far have like 10 ammo. Sure, real powder weapons could not be reloaded by changing the magazine or inserting a clip but this is just unnecessary realism. Shooting feels terrible. All weapons are relatively slow projectile weapons and with enemies running all over the place and the game being 3D most of your shots miss, sometimes even at point blank range. Even if you put your cursor on the target, shots might miss because you're shooting at a crab or a flying insect and the shots go above or beneath the target so you spend your time running in circles, trying to hit something. AOE weapons exist but they use a lot of ammo and the damage and range are abysmal. The same goes for melee that also sometimes misses for some reason. There is a charge attack that you …

This game is ABSOLUTELY fantastic. But some of the achievements (The ones about drinking rum WHICH THERE ARE A LOT OF) are bugged I really wanted to get all of the achievements but I LITERALLY CANT. Borington PLEASE FIX THIS I WILL BUY YOUR NEXT GAME PLEASEEEEEEEEEE.

I have a hard time giving this a thumbs up or thumbs down. I want to like it, but it makes it hard to like it. Visually and in terms of audio it as good enough for me. The combat is a bit too bothersome long term. The guns have a reload with a "hit the spot on the bar" timing minigame, which can be disabled in menu, then you just have really long reload times. Some f the guns have a "hit the spot on the bar" timing minigame for shots and overall, i noticed how i was choosing weapons, skills and basically everything by how it is the least annoying thing to use. I used a weapon with the "hit the spot on the bar" timing because i had a skill that means no ammo use when you hit the "perfect" so while hitting "perfect" was bothersome, it was not as bothersome as the slow reload times. Then there's hitting the enemies, projectiles often miss if you aim at the enemies, you need to learn to aim around feet or whatever fits on a specific type to hit, and not hitting means no perfect shots and no perfect means more reloads and i don't want to do this any more! And over time, i am right now 5 hours in, i am at 0,8 hours played this week because i'd rather play other games, so yeah this ga…

Amazing theming, amazing combat dynamics, okay progression and story. At the asking price, please try it, you might fall in love.

Pretty cool game top down shooter / action-rpg, was pleasantly surprised.

Fun little arpg. Could it use some more features and a tweaked different approach to skill tree/sockets---yes. But as a lover of games like TQ1, i can say im having more fun on this then i am on the EA TQ2. So honestly at the price, if you like ARPGs, just get it.
