4 The Elements

This is one of those games that really makes you wish for a third option in reviews. FIRST AND FOREMOST: THIS IS NOT A METROIDVANIA. That really needs to be said as loud as possible to anyone thinking about buying this. (Yes, I reported the tag, along with the Trader tag as that is even more off-base than Metroidvania). The gameplay is much closer to Mega Man. You have 4 stages to choose from and each stage has 5 collectibles. Each character (of the 4 elements) can gain 2 upgrades that are in the levels. I haven't finished the game but so far none of these upgrades seem optional or hidden in anyway. The levels themselves are very linear with a couple of spots you can divert your path, usually just for a collectible. The bosses are tough if you can't figure out the "gimmick" to them, again a lot like Mega Man. Some stages require you to have an upgrade from another stage in order to get a collectible, but a little backtracking does not make it a Metroidvania. Graphics: 4/10. This is a personal taste thing. I don't think any of the graphics are particularly bad (okay, a couple things come to mind like the "mud flow") but the main issue is that a lot of the graphics don't mesh well…

The first thing that stood out to me is the writing. The characters are written very well, with each having their own distinct personality. Conversation and banter between the 4 elements feels natural and I quite enjoyed it. Character graphics for their speech portions are very well drawn and offer a unique take on the elements. So far I've only experienced the Fire Realm and it looks exactly as I'd expect. Lava everywhere, fire based enemies, steam exploding through rocks.. There's a lot of detail and the levels are well crafted with checkpoints that give you a quick start after death. Platforming requires a bit of precision, and there are times I found myself dying because I accidentally walked off a ledge or an enemy knocked me back into the lava. Combat feels a little lackluster, lacking true impact when hitting enemies. Combat can be skipped quite a bit, which I thought was nice. I feel there isn't particularly a lot to say about the levels. They are designed well, albeit by the time you finish the game they may feel a bit on the shorter side. "4 The Elements" is a 2D action platformer. It follows on the footsteps of famous games we know but in a unique way. We control 4 different characters in 1 body, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, and we change between them in real time to traverse the levels. The idea is to fluently combine a different set of attacks and moves, like a graceful dance! It is an interesting idea that could had been even better if the execution was perfect. It starts nicely, with witty and fun dialogue. We get introduced to the characters via a funny and interesting story. Each character is unique in every aspect; from their personality to their skills and attacks. After a brief tutorial level, we reach a hall that has 4 different worlds that combine 2 of the basic elements. At the end of each stage there is a boss, as well as after finishing the 4th boss. The order of the stages doesn't matter and they are similar in their progression and mechanics with additions from collectable upgrades. That you find a different platform game when you can switch the character and can do a lot of things like attack, fly, protect of shoot, swim and stuff... this game is perfect, simmilar to The Lost Vikings. The art and audio is so beautiful and very polished. I recommend it. :)

4 The Elements is a action platforming game. While it is listed as a metroidvania, it's more akin to something like Mega Man X. There are four levels and there are power ups in each of them. There are areas that may require a power up from a different level in order to access, and you are rewarded with another power up or collectible. It doesn't open up large new sections of game to explore like one would expect from a metroidvania, or is the revisiting of stages required to advance the plot, so to put it simply I would call it an Action Platformer only. You begin by learning about your situation and the four characters you control, each of a respective element. You can change between them at will and each have their own positives and negatives to their use. Fire and Water are good for fighting, while Air is good for platforming and evading danger. I felt however that Earth had very limited use as she could not jump and could barely walk, and her shield only had minimal utility (which is under-minded by an ability Air gets later on), so she's relegated to solving particular puzzles. visualmente bonito, consigo ver carinho na direção de arte. porem acaba ai, posso ainda afirmar q a gameplay é cluida, porem repleta de bugs q te obrigam a reiniciar o jogo. tive que reiniciar mais de 10x em algumas fazes, e tive q fazer o mesmo no boss final. oq é muito frustrante. Acho que com um pouco mais de tempo antes de publicar jogo ( ou ate agr mesmo) é possivel corrigir esses bugs q te trancam e obrigam a começar do 0
