Gecko Gods

Gecko Gods is a cozy and puzzly game where you play as a gecko. Definitely the best part is playing as just a little guy. Controlling the gecko is very fun, skittering away in the world, climbing walls, and eating different insects. The puzzles have been fun too. The biggest downside is that the story is a little too abstract for me to feel fully invested in getting to the ending, but I could see myself picking it up here and there. Overall, a thumbs up.

Been waiting a long time to play this one, and it doesnt disappoint. You explore complex environments as a wall-clinging gecko, with collectibles and objectives to guide you along. I'm having a blast playing it, and look forward to going further.

There are no spoilers in this review. What a rare original gem these guys have made! GG does a fantastic job at nearly everything it sets its sights on. Quick disclaimer: I HIGHLY recommend this game to be played with controller. I played with M & K for a few hours to test it out, and boy, howdy is it a more cumbersome experience. Kick back, relax, and enjoy the controller experience on this one. Three are ample resources available for you to unlock all the unlockables simply by playing the game. -Natural. Cute and immersive puzzle game, with exploration and platforming elements. The biggest draw is that you play as a gecko. Aside from being adorable, this also gives you the ability to climb on any surface, including walls and ceilings. The puzzles and environment are designed with this in mind. You will be required to climb all over the place in the process of puzzle solving and exploration. This alone is quite enjoyable, since the environment is so beautifully rendered. The puzzles are not particularly difficult, but what makes them enjoyable is that they fully utilize your climbing ability. Oftentimes, although what you're doing boils down to pulling a couple of levers, the fact that you have to climb on walls, ceilings, and sometimes through holes to get to them makes the process engaging. It also helps that the game is so atmospheric, with a beautiful art style and a great sound track. The game does have a certain level of jank. I would assume this is partially due to the programming challenges of allowing players free reign of a 3d environment, and partially due to time constraints of a small dev team. Somewhat uneven experience. The start feels good (if simple) and seems promising, but unless you beeline it straight for the next main objective (which you probably will not immediately recognize as such), you'll spend at least an hour doing basic platforming, solving basic puzzles, and running through basic ring courses. Around this point I was starting to feel pretty disappointed with the game, but then I got to the desert island and the game felt like it was *on* for a solid 3-4 hours? With a couple nice puzzle mechanics, fantastic exploratory level design, and excellent vibes as the bgm constantly evolves. And then you do the final dungeon and that one also falls a little flat because it has some good puzzling at the start but then sort of just eases off into somewhat-less-basic platforming (when the platforming in this game doesn't feel spectactular?). idk this sounds more negative than it actually is, I had a good time overall and the desert island in general was fantastic, but I feel like the start and end of the game not being able to hit that same high causes the experience to not shine quite as brightly as it could have.

Charming and beautiful game with fun (though not very difficult) puzzles. It's a fairly short game (including getting all collectables) but it's a good time and worth the money. It did have a few (mostly visual) bugs with parts of the environment that change after interacting with them but the most annoying one fixed itself after reopening the game and none of them really affected game-play. Cute, fun game overall.
