Gameplay
Shrine of the God-ape is a 2D action platformer. During the game, the player will be confronted with many challenges, such as traps, enemies, and huge bosses. Over the course of the game, the player will experience:
- 12 Levels - Divided into three distinct areas that present unique challenges.
- 3 Boss levels - Multi stage encounters that will test your puzzle-solving ability as much as your platforming skills!
- Soundtrack - 3 original synth-heavy, bass drum driven, boss themes that don't fit the game at all!
- Steam achievements
- New speedrun mode! Becomes available once the final level is reached. Post game content, yay!

Fun little puzzle/precision platformer, and I do mean little, maybe 45 minutes to finish the three levels. But what's here is quality with great pixel art, tight controls, a cool soundtrack, and mildly difficult and engaging gameplay that really does mix the puzzle and precision aspects to about a 50/50 ratio. I generally love puzzle platformers and don't like the precision kind (at least not games purely created to torture), yet the precision aspects of this are fine with me and the level thankfully restarts quickly when you fall into spikes or get bopped on the head by a gorilla. Really good value for a dollar. It's well thought out, doesn't overstay it's welcome, and has a charming aesthetic. The bosses often feel a little inconsistent in their patterns, but that could be a skill issue on my part. Solid recommend. It's a short time, but it's a decent one.
This game was an awesome mix of action problem solving and epic boss fights. truly a game worthy of being a shrine to ape kind. -Gorilla Gary
For a under 1 Euro/USD game, I didn't expect anything more. Really short and fun little platformer that you can easily finish in a few 10 minutes. I almost have an hour in because I got all the achievements which also are really easy to earn. Help this solo dev out by giving him a few cents and maybe he comes back with something bigger.
I hold the world record in this game. That is what I hold.
