Ciconia When They Cry - Phase 1: For You, the Replaceable Ones

maybe if i write a positive review phase 2 will come out sooner

just give us phase 2 already

if you've read and enjoyed higurashi and umineko, ciconia is ABSOLUTELY worth reading right now even if phase 2 never releases. this is some of ryukishi's best work and you're doing yourself a disservice by opting to wait until its fully out. the questions it leaves are so engaging that you cant help but immerse yourself in taking a shot at making sense of it all, the story it weaves is so engrossing that i couldn't tear myself away the entire time i was reading, and even though i groaned in despair when it ended, the more i sit with it the more i'm just happy to have experienced something as fantastic as this. it isn't COMPLETELY perfect, i'm disappointed that r07 decided to use royalty free music here even after his incredible lineup of composers did a stellar job with every song in umineko, and the OST here generally doesn't match up to the likes of higurashi and umineko, until the finale where xaki locks in and delivers some of my favorite songs in all of WTC. some of the FMV animations are really janky too but thats part of the doujin charm i guess. nonetheless, these are just smaller nitpicks i have with the presentation.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I've finally read all of this phase including everything that can be unlocked and... man. We've been left with this for years... Absolutely read this VN, for sure, please, but be aware that we're all going to be sitting around waiting for the next phase like we're Vladimir and Estragon from 'Waiting For Godot'.

Even with only one phase released out of the four that were planned (and even with it not being likely any other phase comes out soon), it's such a great visual novel and would still highly recommend reading it. I can't stop thinking about those Walls of Peace.
