Fatum Betula

Truly one of the more unique experiences I've had playing a video game. Fatum Betula has a very unique visual style with it's retro ps1 era graphics that compliments it's atmospheric style extremely well. It feels like you're playing one of those ARG video games that don't exist and the feeling it gives me scratches an itch that I don't think any other game has scratched yet for me. The game deals with extistentialism, death, abuse and nihilism and with each dialogue and ending gives you so much to think about, it's such an aesthetically pleasing think-piece of a video game. Aesthitically everything blends in so well, from the weird textures, the dialogue, hell even the font that's used feels so perfect for it. The gameplay is more or less a walking simulator where you interact with npcs, find objects and solve puzzles, which are quite obtuse to get different endings. The puzzles really had me confused and walking around aimlessly but figuring it out myself in the end felt quite rewarding. Even the obtuse and nonsensical requirements for the endings played pretty well into how the game is meant to feel. The soundtrack is also quite wonderful. Every single aspect of this game…

Hidden gem. Great music and dreamy atmosphere. Loved the secret ending.

I first learned about this game while playing one of the Haunted PS1 Demo Disk. I decided to check out the full version and was pleasantly surprised. It's not a very long game, but there's a lot of little hidden niches here and there to discover. The vibe and atmosphere is pretty on-point for me. It's a simple exploration game with a few minor environmental puzzles mixed in. All in all a decent experience
