⭐️ SUMMARY ⭐️

Golden Force is a retro-style, run ‘n gun platformer set on undiscovered fantasy islands of Muscle Archipelago and deep waters, full of deadly creatures, surrounding it. Chop the tentacles of a Kraken-like monster, perform complex combos, slides, and dash attacks.

Defeat mini-bosses and peel the skin off giant and powerful main enemies. Join the intense action to discover many different unlockable areas with funky names like Nacho Island, ruled bySalsa General. Challenge yourself and complete all the stages with the best time, combo count, and with all of the coins in your pocket.

Grab collectibles and throwable items that will aid you in battle. Swim and fight underwater (beware of bloodthirsty fish!), dash over spiky obstacles, and try not to harm any kittens in the process (well, you can and there’s no penalty, but it’s definitely heartbreaking, and we WILL judge you). Finally, overcome the Demon King!

✦ AI summary

Players praise Golden Force's colorful visuals, tight sprite animation, and challenging 2D platformer gameplay that rewards skill and exploration, making it appealing to fans of classic Castlevania-style difficulty. However, the game is held back by significant technical issues including game-breaking bugs with rope climbing and camera tracking, repetitive music with only a handful of tracks, and a steep difficulty curve that frustrates many players who feel the challenge sometimes comes from poor design rather than fair mechanics.

This game has way too many negative reviews considering how well made it is. The number one complaint seems to be that's it gets difficult very quickly, which is something I really appreciated. There's only a handful of mechanics to keep in mind, but using them appropriately requires a bit of skill and forethought. Anyone who can beat an early Castlevania game should be able to recognize patterns pretty easily and get through the game in a few hours. Players who like collecting things and maximizing their stats will find a lot of level design elements that encourage exploration. If you like games that don't pander and kick your butt, try this out when it's on sale (I got it for under $3)!
Just saying, but I do have a curator page. If you like my remarks about games, you can find more of them here: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44130985-TDP%27s-Gaming-Escapades
Well, they do say not to judge a book based on its cover. On first look, Golden Force appears to be a really good game. In terms of visual presentation, the game is colorful with every single playable and non-playable character having very well-drawn sprites and animations. The music is also pleasant to listen to, even sometimes reminding me of the Crash Bandicoot series for some reason. Although the number of available tracks is incredibly low, with I think about only 6 tracks composed for all the levels you will be going through. And to top it off, the game has solid foundations for a great action-platformer. But when we get to the actual gameplay... well... that's the part when the game takes a turn for the worse.
Hard just for the sake of being hard
You can already see a lot of reviews on this game's store page claiming that it's a hard game. Yes, this game is hard. But it's hard for the wrong reasons. There's a difference between how hard games are designed. Som…

I am glad i ignored the mixed reviews and bought this game, it's exactly what i want from a 2d platformer, it has colorful graphics (i hate those games where everything is dim), and quite challenging gameplay, don't expect to blindly press buttons and expect to win the level. I really don't understand why so many gave this a negative review, maybe they was expecting an easy game? anyway, highly recommended for 2d platforming lovers that enjoys a challenge. currrently at the beginning of world 3 when writing this review.

I'd like to talk about all the stuff I like and say these qualities might redeem this game in the eyes of some players, but this game is just too buggy to play reliably. I've only been playing for 3 hours and already I have encountered bugs that caused me to be completely unable to finish a level. Bugs such as being unable to climb ropes for no reason, or having the camera lose track of the player and never being able to focus on the player again. This does not include the other bugs that make the game much harder than it needs to be, such as taking damage from enemies before they spawn, a very common occurance. Maybe that one isn't a bug. If not, it sure is a bad design choice. I'd go on, but maybe the rest of my issues are too subjective. Those bugs though, they are not uncommon and nothing frustrates me more than having a good run through a level, only to have to quit out of it back to the world map and start the level over from scratch because of a bug.

I love what this is, for it gives like a 16 or 32 bit CD talkie platformer would have in our youth. -Gen Y :-)
