Mutropolis

Honestly, the puzzles seem very disjointed and even after finding hints, often leave me thinking "I never would've got that" instead of a "damn, how come I didn't think of that?!" Managed to make my way through most of the "2nd act", and wasn't feeling any enjoyment out of it

I'm sad not to be leaving a better review of Mutropolis, as there was much to be liked about the game. The art was cute, the characters were a fun spin on well-worn tropes, and the story was very inventive and kept me guessing all the way to the end. Sadly, it fell into too many adventure game execution traps: tedious cutscenes, long pauses and unskippable animations, and saddest of all, the worst case of Moon Logic that I can think of outside the old Discworld games. The puzzles reward brute force, not lateral thinking, and I found myself itching for the game to be over so I could know the ending and be done. A very mixed bag, but I wouldn't be afraid to play another game from the same studio.

The story was lovely. There were lots of funny details that I enjoyed very much. It was harder than I'd expected; I felt stuck a few times, and I had to look up at the walkthrough.

The game is a pretty well created point-and-click. I think it's a great deal for its price, and the story setting is pretty amusing as a concept. There are some points where the game feels like it's made for a younger generation, but as long as you don't take the game too seriously, it's fine and sometimes funny.

I've played Luna the Shadowdust and the Samorost series for point and click adventures, they had a charm and humor to them. Then there's this pile. Too be fair I didn't finish it. I don't hate myself that much. Mutropolis is very boring. Like watching an unfunny, mediocre at best, kids cartoon that you have to figure out how to keep it going. Props to the voice actors, there's a lot of dialogue in the game. Too bad the game is about as bland as a bowl of rice. Avoid, or make your kids play it as a form of punishment.
