About Missing Translation

✦ AI summary

Explore a haunting desert city filled with bizarre creatures while solving dozens of puzzles across three distinct mechanics, all told through wordless black-and-white pixel art and a haunting soundtrack. With no tutorials or hand-holding, you'll unravel the mystery entirely on your own terms, choosing between two characters and discovering a drawn language as you progress through optional challenges.

Lost in a weird city in the middle of the desert and surrounded by strange creatures that keep staring at you. This is a game about exploring the unknown and solving puzzles... lots of them! Don't be fooled by the looks, this isn't your typical point & click adventure, you'll spend your time solving them.

Key Features

  • No tutorials, hints or even text to be found here. This wasn't made to increase difficulty but to let the player do everything on his own, "Missing Translation" isn't a hard game, but we don't like hand-holding.

  • REPEAT, NO TEXT. Everyone can enjoy it regardless of the language they speak :D

  • Three different puzzle mechanics, each of those features 25 levels to complete.

  • Beautiful black and white pixel art... ... did I already say we have cats?

  • Two different characters to choose from.

  • Additional challenges involving a drawn language that can be learned up to some point.

  • Great soundtrack that has evolved with the rest of the game over development.

  • FREE! No ads, cash shop or any of those modern things.

This is a free game, so I can't leave a negative review, since it has clearly some love put into it. Missing Translation is basically a collection of 3 types of puzzles which feel very derivative and become pretty tedious midway through. The fact that they are quite easy does not help either. There is an additional puzzle for a single achievement that requires some thinking and attention, but still feels very, very derivative. The music and graphics are quite nice and the fact that the game is language independent is really cool. I would love to see more of this. I will definitely keep an eye on the developers but unfortunately this game can be skipped with nothing of note to be missed. 5/10

Missing Translation is a distinctive puzzle adventure developed by AlPixel Games, Luis Diaz, Gustavo Santos, Albert Fernandez, and Tice Thomason, and published by GamesBoosters. What immediately separates it from most games in the genre is its complete rejection of traditional communication methods. There are no readable dialogues, no lengthy tutorials, and no quest logs guiding the player from one objective to another. Instead, the game places players in an unfamiliar world and asks them to learn its rules through observation, experimentation, and logic. This design philosophy transforms the entire experience into a puzzle where understanding the world itself is just as important as solving the challenges within it. The story begins with a lone traveler arriving in a strange settlement populated by mysterious creatures and surrounded by symbols that appear impossible to understand. Rather than explaining the setting through text or narration, the game allows players to gradually uncover meaning through interaction. Every environment, object, and visual clue contributes to a larger picture that must be assembled piece by piece. This approach creates a powerful sense of curiosity b…
