My Summer Adventure: Memories of Another Life

Not recommended. I got this in a Fanatical bundle and finally decided to play it because it is summer and i thought a summer adventure sounded fun. Alas, it was not. The art and music are fine but nothing special. The story and characters weren't very engaging. I think got a bad ending and i have no idea why and don't care enough to play it again, even though i only encountered a handful of choices. But the worst thing is that the MMC is a misogynist a-hole. He talks about when his girlfriend dumped him he'd turn up at her work and leave drawings outside the window of her home, which is just stalking. And when one of the female characters says something relatively innocuous he gets upset (for reasons unclear) and says his instincts are to repeatedly hit and strangle them. I think maybe the writer thought it was funny but it just comes off as creepy.

While it's very well-written, it's skews more towards wanting to write about difficult and complex emotional turmoil rather than romance, even though that is in there as well. The game seems more interested in exploring the 'bad endings' than leading you to a good outcome. Basically, it wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, but that's not the game's fault, and I enjoyed it enough to grab all the endings (thankyou to whoever wrote the guide). I'd only recommend this if you want a story that explores some darker themes, but balances it really well with the light of hope as well, and you have the intention of persevering towards that outcome. Also plays quite nicely on the Steam Deck.

Not a terrible VN, bit it just doesn't do anything to hold my attention. If it either had more QoL features, or more interesting writing, then I'd maybe enjoy it more, but basic VNs aren't for me.

I don't have all the achievements for this game but I've spent enough time playing it. I got the "good" ending, with its twists and turns. I also got a lot of the bad endings - some of them made me think "Is that it?" One of the longer ones was quite heart-rendering, and after reaching it twice I decided I had played this game through enough times. It is quite an interesting concept, waking up in someone else's body, in another country with a very different culture. I would highly recommend it

This was a great story. I do think the endings were a little rushed. Also there were a lot of choices matters things that seemed to derail the story very hard. All in all though, I'm very happy I played this.
