About The Caligula Effect 2

●STORYRedo - a world without regrets.
Regret - a mysterious virtuadoll.
Those who hear her songs find themselves transported into another world.
The world of Redo is a virtual world built from the regrets of many people.
"If only I'd done things differently..."
This is a world where everyone's secret desire to redo their lives can come true.
A place where they can become the person they would have been had they chosen differently...
Redo - a dull world with no regrets, where anyone can experience a life redone.
Another Songstress and the Go-Home Club
Another virtuadoll exists - χ. She seeks to destroy the false world of Redo.
She gives strength to the protagonist - who is slowly awakening to reality - as her chosen partner.
They form the Go-Home Club, gathering other members who have also found out about the world outside Redo.
Thus begins their arduous task of making it home against the will of the creator of the world.
Go-Home Club's True Selves
In Redo, members of the club are in their "redone" forms, which they have obtained by ignoring reality and undoing past regrets.
Their true selves are secret forms only the player can deal with.
Tread carefully and choose actions that will leave no regrets...

 ●CHARACTER STORIES
In the world of Redo, Go-Home Club members are in their "redone" forms - manifestations of past regrets that have been undone.
Each member is trapped in a situation dreadful enough to cause them to turn away from reality.
What happened to them? And why are they trying so hard to return to that painful reality? These are only some of the mysteries the player must unravel.
There is a chance you may find the members' true selves unacceptable.
So tread carefully and choose actions that will leave no regrets...
 ●BATTLES
Imaginary Chain
Chain combos in the battle system while predicting the future!
The battled system is turn-based. Once an action is selected, you can peer into the future and see what it looks like successfully executed.
Use this ability wisely to coordinate attacks with allies or cover them during bad situations.
χ-Jack
When certain conditions are met in battle, a χ-Jack is activated, in which χ's singing voice hijacks the battlefield and powers up the Go-Home Club.
The effects differ according to the song chosen. This move is powerful enough to completely turn the tide of battle.
Develop χ's abilities to improve the effects of a χ-Jack.
 ●OTHER FEATURES
WIRE
Use WIRE's group chat function to discuss club goals or ask allies questions on private chat.
You may be surprised by what you can learn from their replies.
Some special questions can only be obtained with high affinity or via quests.
CAUSALITY LINK
Even residents of the ideal world Redo have minor gripes and problems to contend with.
Perhaps these stem from their true selves or personal relationships in reality...?
Complete quests from townsfolk to gather more information and uncover hidden truths.

The game seems fine but I just want to post this before I forget: There is an achievement you get immediately upon starting a new game, and 90% of players have that achievement. Following this, you watch a 20-minute series of cutscenes with no actual gameplay, and at the end you get a second achievement for "completing" the prologue. 84% of players have this achievement. So I'd like to use this platform to recognize the 6% of players who started the game, made it about 10 minutes into the blandest Store Brand Persona nonsense imaginable, and decided to move on with their lives. Whatever merits this game has as a GAME rather than in the story wrapped around it - and this is par for the course with Furyu - I believe you made the right decision. EDIT: Well, now I am three hours in and am still in the first dungeon, a subway that seems to want me to think I'm in a mad dash to escape while I trudge through the over-long, samey environments and enemies, with a grating single-verse J-rock track on loop for an hour that my Spirit Waifu assures me is narratively significant so I can look forward to a lot more of that. So, look. I'm sure this game has a lot of merit. I'm sure it does cle…

The most significant improvement over the first game is that Caligula Effect 2 has a much better understanding of its characters. They're no longer a collection of exaggerated personalities that, at their worst, come across as simply edgy. Instead, they're people with believable struggles that explain why they ended up in Redo in the first place. This applies to both the Go-Home Club and the antagonists. The party, in particular, works much better because there's a genuine sense of camaraderie, and it's easy to believe these characters will remain connected even after the events of Redo. I also found myself smiling more than once at their banter, helped in no small part by the excellent localization. Some characters—especially 𝜒—are allowed to go completely off the rails, and I ended up liking them a lot. Even characters like Kobato, whose behavior initially seems questionable, receive enough context to make them understandable. Unfortunately, some story arcs are resolved a little too simplistically given the complexity of their underlying themes (Gin and Marie, in particular). The music once again plays a major role in this. The songs of the Obbligato Musicians aren't just back…

Possibly my biggest disappointment this year. How does this have 91% positive reviews?!? It keeps being referred to as "low budget Persona" but frankly it's just low budget. There is nothing that even remotely resembles Persona. The story would be ok if the characters weren't so childish that it's impossible to take any of them seriously. The combat is boring and gets repetitive 10 times faster than in Persona, dungeon design is likewise boring and repetitive. There is just nothing here that I'd rate "good" or worth the price tag (thankfully I got it on a sale).
