Taking place on the same continent as the fan favorite Trails in the Sky offshoot of Nihon Falcom’s storied The Legend of Heroes franchise, Trails of Cold Steel II (Sen no Kiseki II in Japanese) is a direct sequel to Trails of Cold Steel, picking up one month after the decisive collision that changed the fate of the entire nation of Erebonia. I love sending students to civil wars
Simply put, I liked this game. It was fun. I'd give it a 8/10. This is the second game of my journey to play through the entire Trails series. I decided to start with Cold Steel 1 & 2, since it had always been in the back of my mind. I'm now going to begin with the Sky series, then the Crossbell duology then finally return back to the Erebonia arc (Cold Steel). From here onwards, there will be spoilers (for only CS1 and CS2) within my review. Do keep in mind that I didn't play NG+, so I don't know what's in Black Records. I did watch a video about it though. I liked the cast of Class VII (notably Jusis, Machias, Laura, and controversially, Alisa, to name a few). They all had interesting character developments, and obviously due to the huge cast it was quite the challenge to develop each and every character. In my opinion, I did find myself liking characters that I previously disliked in CS1 (Millium, Fie) and I was extremely excited to see Crow again (albeit.. I did get spoiled of his death). I liked the guest characters too. Compared to CS1, this game definitely shines in the aspect of freedom. I didn't like how I was forced to use a certain set of characters in CS1 (I only w…
Like all of these games. I like them. I'm gonna have to say that I did this game on hard and it's super unbalanced at the early game. I hit Gurillia (sp) fortress and the two Yagers there. It's stupid. They both have almost 100k hp. They have no stat weakness. All of their elements are up, so only high elements for damage, but you only have access to low level skills. They are doing 3-4k a regular hit and like 8-9k with their specials. I mean. Where is the tactical edge I can get? In a balanced game on hard, they would be like hey look, they are weak to blind attacks... build around that. I know that by the later parts of the game, when you have access to a good variety of arts, that you can start killing it on hard, but you have to balance for the early game if you are gonna offer that difficulty... especially if you don't let people turn it the ♥♥♥♥ off.
