The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie

This game is not very good. The story at the start of the game is incredibly poor as its hard to understand and confusing. This game has no real interesting features that separates it from other games. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone, even if its free Message @John Pork

Refreshing to play after the absolute torture the Cold Steel series was, literally only because of C's story. Regrettably, it is also the route with the fewest scenes. Rean's and Lloyds routes were unnecessary, and I would have greatly appreciated if theirs were shorter so C's could be more in-depth. It's basically Trails in the Sky 3rd but worse. The various daydreams are fun, the optional characters are also fun to break the game over your knee with, and you can achieve ridiculous levels of Evasion on every character with little effort. Overall, an okay game that, unlike every Cold Steel game, did not make me want to throw my computer out of my window. One thing I hope to never see in the series again is a "curse" or "mind control" plot just so the writers can make you fight people but never come up with a good reason for it. Nothing is more deflating than a conflict you can't get invested in.

It took five games and 462 hours, but Reanbean finally learned that dramatic self-sacrifices are optional. Also Lloyd Bannings is the most amazing protagonist in the world and I love him in ways that cannot be qualified or quantified, and I'm gonna miss Crossbell so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much. This really was a Trails into Reverie.

Excellent capstone game for both Crossbell and Erebonia. The "Daydream" content really helped give closure to a lot of long sub-plot threads, added layers and context to several important NPCs, and did some fun foreshadowing.

Another amazing conclusion to the Crossbell/Erebonia arcs. It fixes most of my problems I've had with the Erebonia arc since the beginning and doesn't leave a bad taste. The pacing is among the best in the series. The three-path system is a great concept, with the third route easily being my favorite. It feels like Sky 3rd, but in all the best ways. The minigames were hit or miss, but a good amount of effort was put into the new ideas. The QoL upgrades for managing and gearing such a massive cast are a welcome relief, making it painless to keep everyone viable. The United Front mechanic is great, the ending sets up the next arc cleanly, and despite the sheer volume of content, it never feels bloated like CS4 did. Overall 9/10, tied with Sky 3rd for a spot in my top 3.
