Lil' Guardsman

I tried on several occassions to start and finish this game, but the actual design of the encounters never really interested me and the story honestly just felt too "quirky" for me to gather much enjoyment from. Perhaps the game is better for a younger audience, but when so many things come down to chance, I find it hard to really get into the games core gameplay loop or narrative. I don't recommend this game, but I also wouldn't advocate against playing it for other people. It just wasn't my cup of tea. Wish I could play it without bouncing off of it every time.

Thought it would just be a more light hearted version of Papers Please, but I feel it's more of just a simple linear storybook. Good: Voice acting and character personality are decent Bad: for most of the decisions you have to make, you can't really deduce the best option, it's more luck than anything else. Halfway through the game, I switched to just following a guide, otherwise I'd be missing a lot of the side stories. Overall ok story but not fun as a game.

Oh my, this game is so cute and witty. Love the Lil Guardsman and all the side characters. The voice acting is so on point. Spent 40 hours on it with most of it spent trying to chase down all the achievements. No regret.

This game has absolutely NO right to be so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good. I got it as part of a humble bundle and wasn't expecting much. But full voice-acting, entertaining gameplay, many references and even humour that occasionally made me laugh or smile at how clever it is. Brilliant. And there seems to be an unholy amount of replayability, which I'll probably be checking out.

I got this game in a Humble Bundle. And I enjoyed it a lot! Usually I play games with more complex gameplay as I get easily bored from repetitive superficial gameplay. But this one did a great job changing the gameplay just a little bit all the time to not make it repetitive. the changes made where directly linked to the plot. That way you just got guided through and progress the game in quite a natural flow. It's not the most complex game, but the humor is fun, the game doesnt take itself too serious and the story keeps you interested. I actually also felt bad for some characters! yes there are some little things that could be smoother: - the way you have to position the character perfectly to be able to click on stuff gets annoying because getting closer to point doesnt always work. it needs to be the perfect distance - I would also love an option for the text to just automatically progress especially cause there is a voice over But honestly, those are just tiny things that shouldnt stop you from trying the game out.
