The Old Tree

The Old Tree is a very short point and click puzzle game that feels more like a strange little animated story than a traditional adventure. I control a tiny newborn alien creature as it makes its way out of an underground area and slowly travels towards an unknown destination. There is no dialogue or written story to explain what is happening, so I have to understand the world through the things I see and interact with. I actually like that approach because it makes the whole game feel mysterious without throwing a load of text at me. The artwork is easily the strongest part for me. Everything has a dark and slightly unsettling look, but there is also something strangely cute about the little alien creature I am guiding. The environments are full of unusual creatures, strange machinery and small details that make me want to look around before moving on. It has that old school point and click feeling where the visuals are doing a lot of the storytelling. I also like how the game can look creepy one moment and then surprisingly charming the next. It's a short and sweet experience with a cute art style. It takes 15min to play-through the game, but it's a well worth it experience :)
