Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution

This is Really not a bad game so far: The only gripe i have is that the dlc isn't a separate entity to buy for cheap by what is listed $9.99 from the showcase pop up and clicking on it only makes it want me to buy the whole game again plus those costumes, which: is greedy. The whole reason a lot of us fell in love with the Shantae series was due to it being affordable Nobody can justify spending $60+ on it that's usually what triple A games are listed and this ain't that chief.

If this was released 25 years ago and strictly on the GBA, or if it was made by one [i]amateur[/i] developer, I'd give some issues a potential pass. Clearly I expected something different, maybe only based on the original concepts. Really amateur writing and dialogue execution. Genuine nonsense moments where I wished I could mash the button to get through them without fully skipping (which I think early in the game, it even pointed out the button to skip dialogue). Often I was fighting the controls and movement. There's a button that saves a transformation as a "quick item" but it isn't the dance button, it's the magic / item button. Suddenly you don't notice that the transformation isn't there anymore, so a potion or two gets wasted or you start eating up your magic with a spell. The other complaint is holding the magic / item button rotates through them. I had to change the controls as I'd be holding the wrong button, thinking it was to dance / transform in large part from the previous issue. Not quite sure how to explain this one, but I know it's occasionally an issue with other platformers. The running sprite seemed further ahead than where I was visually seeing it. Running…

Even though it is inferior to its successors, this game is pretty decent. It hasn't aged well, but it is fun nonetheless. I do recommend the other Shantae titles over this one though. It is also dumb that you cannot fight the AI in the multiplayer mode :D

If u like shantae buy this game only issue is the random fps bug i wish they would fix that :( 9/10
