Shantae and the Seven Sirens

A decent entry in the series. The most Metroid-like Shantae yet. Although it doesn't quit match up to a couple of the previous games, in my opinion. Although the exploration and level design is pretty solid, the boss fight encounters are kind of disappointing. Even on definitive mode, the game felt rather easy in most cases. At least the signature humor and fanservice is still there, and I am glad for that!

Good game, I played it on the Nintendo Switch a while ago and got it here to play the whole series. However, for some odd reason, the game's speed is really wonky? After booting it up the second time, the game was about 50% faster except for the music and SFX for some reason. And today, the game randomly slowed down to atrocious speeds, I want to say probably 6fps. I can barely play the game like this, and the web states that the game speed could be tied to FPS, but I don't use NVIDIA so I can't limit the FPS to 60, and I have no idea how I'd fix it being super slow. If you can get it on another platform, do it and don't play it here.

Truly one of if not the worst Metroidvania game I've ever played.

I am a big fan of the Shantae franchise, I never go into any of these expecting a masterpiece or anything, but they're usually always at least good time, the best 7/10 experience you can find out there. This one however is just so underwhelming that I have a hard time finding the urge to continue playing it, and when I do it's in very short bursts. Everything in this game just feels like it needed more time in the oven, the level design feels extremely bland, the soundtrack is a noticeable step down from previous entries, I do not like the monster card system at all and the abilities you get from them aren't exciting or interesting. I don't actually mind the transformations that much compared to other reviews it seems, but they're also definitely not as interesting as previous games either. I don't want to say this is a bad game but I'm mostly just bored while playing it, I feel like I would need to force myself to finish this game and all I want to do while playing this game is play a different Shantae game,

Fantasticly fun Metroidvania/platformer of the Shantae Series! Highly recommended if you enjoy that sort of game, or a fan of the Shantae Series. (Also, Lobster Girl is super cute.)
