Freedom Planet 2

A fair 1up over the first game, if you liked the first game then this game should be right down your alley. Basically takes the gameplay the first had and improves on it in seemingly every metric.

Great continuation of the OST of the original. Haven't played far but am enjoying it so far

In my opinion, this game is a better evolution of the Sonic the Hedgehog series than we actually got. The level designs are incredible, the characters' designs and personalities are all great, the music rules, and the writing is great too. Honestly, I don't really have anything to complain about here, it's a fantastic game.

A great modern take on classic Genesis-era gaming. The original was a love-letter to Sonic games. With the sequel, the game has evolved a distinct platforming gameplay style all its own. Highlights: Immaculate boss design, presenting an interesting but different challenge for each of the four characters' movement types. Great sense of flow both in the speed-style platforming and the combat. The music is killer. Lowlights: The game errs on the side of taking it's story a bit too seriously, and could have been improved with a ~20% trim in the editing room. The post-game "time capsules" feel tacked on, like there was meant to be a game mechanic there and they ran out of time so "meh, arena fights I guess."

It's hard going back to Sonic playing this and Spark the Electric Jester. Actually engaging combat, fun and engaging level design (even with some BS in later stages) and actual bosses that aren't pushovers compared to Sonic. It's still a great series, but this is 100% a step above most of them. I especialy love the music and art here, the 32 bit pixel art is some of the best I've seen, along with games like Crosscode and Sea of Stars. Getting all achievements was a grind, but I did it because of hwo fun this game is.

This is a sequel that improves on almost every aspect. The game looks and sounds amazing (first FP was also a looker but this one is ridiculously pretty). Level design is improved, though it suffers from a bit of the "Sonicness" (multiple paths you more stumble through than explore). The camera pulls out with your movement making platforming way more enjoyable. I didn't really get that invested in the story of either games, but I think it succeeds at what it set up to do. The Saturday morning cartoon vibe just didn't do much for me. I only played through with one of the characters, but from the little I played they all feel good to control. Overall much recommended!
