Sister Hedwig is having a bad time.
It wasn't long ago that the Mother Superior dragged her out of her cell, forcing Hedwig to break her oath to God as an Anchoress and face the outside world. Acting as a spy for the leader of Linbarrow Abbey, Hedwig was given one seemingly simple task: Discover who really murdered Sister Catherine.
Hedwig has tried her best, but she is no closer to solving the mystery. Things just keep getting more and more complicated: Why can't any of the Sisters give her a straight answer about what happened the night of the murder? Who--or what--is the mysterious figure that haunts the abbey? And just who was Sister Catherine?
In White Wool & Snow, Sister Hedwig must steel herself. Time is running out, and so is sympathy for her situation. It's understandable that being thrust into the waking world after a life of quiet reflection as an anchoress would require some adjustment, but if Hedwig wants to save an innocent man she will have to get serious fast. Can she navigate increasingly difficult social situations, maintain her cover, and make the progress the Superior demands?

Misericorde Volume 2 is an incredible follow on to Volume 1. I love how it manages to be a departure in tone from the first entry while still feeling continuous, as well as how the mystery deepens without feeling like there's needless complexity being layered on to string the reader along. I meant to say this in my other review but I often feel absolutely blindsided by Hedwig expressing a thought or feeling I've felt privately but not had the words to articulate. It seems we vermin really do share a secret language...! I'm copying this from my review of volume one but it bears repeating: This is a matter of taste to some extent, but if you're holding off because the series in presently unfinished I would recommend going for it anyway. Xeecee has been very transparent about development of Volume 3 and the fact that Volume 3 is to be the last in the series (I know many fiction authors who could learn from this approach lol) so you won't be kept waiting for the conclusion forever.
Not knowing how long I would have to wait for part 3 I tried to read only a chapter or two before bed just so I could sit with the game a little longer, but it was just too good and I had to keep reading pass my imaginary restriction.

The game has 297 reviews at the time of my review, 1 out of which is negative (and I'm like 80% sure it's a joke). This game is SO good. Not perfect, but pretty close. Even better than volume 1, in my opinion. Waiting for vol 3, eagerly. Still very afraid, but I'm pretty sure it will be amazing. Happy ending might be too much to ask for... but please don't be too mean to them, XEECEE. Please :(
