About The Book of Outcasts

The Book of Outcasts is a sequel to TKS: Conussia and The Book of Bondmaids, taking place 100 years after the events of those games.

The icy lands of Conussia have not changed much in the last hundred years – the winters are still biting and cold, the people still stoic and proud and the lands still beautiful and haunting, but the scars left after the Lich King overthrew the Romanzak royal family all those years ago remain.
A disgraced former soldier, you are recruited into the Tsarina’s secretive Sparrows to investigate and hunt down the rogue mage Carpenter, taking a position as a Constable in a remote village far from civilisation but built on the ruins of an ancient and terrible city. Quickly, however, you become embroiled in the workings of the mysterious order of undying wizards known as the Outcasts.

The Book of Outcasts is an RPG dungeon crawler, horror and management sim where you play as either a male or female character, travelling through icy forests and sweltering hot jungles tracking down the mysterious mage in the wooden mask, who may hold the secrets of your own past.
Your character will need to gain allies and equipment if they are to survive, as well as ensure the village will survive the winter. The snows are bitterly cold in Kemskaya Volost, but the fires and the beds are warm…
(The Book of Outcasts is strictly 18+ due to mature themes and extremely strong sexual content, including depiction of consensual acts, BDSM, gay/ lesbian sex, graphic descriptions of torture, use of drugs and alcohol, group sex, murder, strong language and swearing, full male and female nudity, and prostitution).

This is really more of a mixed review. The story is good and the writing is mostly really well done. I do not regret the money spent or my time and will likely play it again. I don't generally like visual novels, so that says something. The images can be lacking, or simply don't match what you are reading (such as the totems being discribed as tigers, but are clearly a person). There are not a lot of text/translation errors, but when you hit one it is jarring. Sometimes things are mentioned, then nothing in that regards ever happens (such as the ape king saying if you ever come back he would mate you, then you return repeatedly, even to his camp, and nothing ever happens). Since they have started on the next game, I doubt anything will be finished in these regards... I hit an image missing error in a part added by a patch and had to reinstall to fix it, so the image wasn't included in the patch.

The Book of Outcasts, developed and published by kamti, is an ambitious dark fantasy title that tries to weave together multiple genres—narrative-driven adventure, dungeon crawling, and light settlement management—into a single cohesive experience. It places a heavy emphasis on mood and worldbuilding, presenting a bleak and morally complex setting that immediately signals its intent to deliver something more serious and atmospheric than a typical indie release. While its scope is impressive on paper, the actual experience feels like a mixture of strong ideas and uneven execution. The narrative forms the backbone of the game, following a disgraced figure drawn into a shadowy order tasked with confronting supernatural threats and political conspiracies. The world itself is harsh and unforgiving, filled with fractured factions, lingering magical corruption, and a sense of constant instability. Early portions of the story are particularly effective, drawing players in with mystery and layered exposition that hints at a much larger conflict. Dialogue and environmental storytelling work together to create intrigue, encouraging players to piece together the broader picture. However, as t…

Overall 5/10 Gameplay 4/10 Story 7/10 Choice 2/10 Setting 8/10 Please make the seconde part but this time make the pathes(the traveling pathes on the map)smaller the main dungeon underground is a labyrinth and the gates and keys make it even harder. Genaraly reduce the grind then it's ok.Saving is so so.Bugs are now not often but at the beginnig/early access it was bugged. About the story and sex scenes more difference in outcomes and choice of player would make it feel great. And more Romance.I get that it's grimdark but it does not need to become grimdumb for darkness i could go into detail but i keep it short the game has mainly sex scenes that are not between people that want it .Such scene are ok for such a setting but should be 1/4 of the scenes and 3/4 should be normal scenes that includes voyeurism and foreplay and romantic sex or something someone wants to try etc. The drama with the card comps has hindered this further. Such to keep it to the point for the next one make choices that matter atleast for the player (Sex scenes romance or degen,or to spare someone even if the character is not reapearing) .Keep the scale of maps easy and manageable and for it to have things…

It is a good game and I really hope they make the next one.

This is a though one to rate. There are certainly some downsides: In many parts the game feels unfinished, e.g. the balancing of the dungeon crawler part feels off, the levels are far too large and become boring after some time, the overall combat system could use some more polishing, in some parts nothing really interesting happens with the story. Yet, there also many parts I did like: The setting is novel and good, I like the art style, the story has some really good moments, you have to make some decisions that feel impactful and I like that you can play as male and female character which makes a replay more interesting. So if you can live with a game that feels rough around the edges I can recommend to give it a try. I at least did enjoy the game overall and for me the game is good value for its price.
