COPPER ODYSSEY 2

Falling into the quasi-genre of surrealist, expressive, outright weird, low-fi rpg games (perhaps most notably featuring Yume Nikki, but carrying back to Earthbound), everything about Copper Odyssey 2 is executed to explore its themes. The art, scenarios, characters, and world live and breathe with an esoteric dreamlike logic and disorienting aesthetic sensibility. It’s not so much pixel art, as pixel hallucinations. A demon-like angel who doesn’t want to be in the printmaking department of heaven has been assigned to a mad scientist museum owner’s bratty kid, which is a pretense for a much more sinister…something… happening. Living rooms, ♥♥♥♥ talking paintings, absurdist dialog, demonic statues as companions to help you battle the dreams of aliens, and discordant lurid visuals, all somehow coheres internally like a Boredoms record. Deeeefinitely give this a play.

the game really does embody fine art. as in it is overpriced, jank as ♥♥♥♥, and i would squint at you if i saw it anywhere in your house

I know quite a few people who have that one game that they replay, over and over and over again. I think I have finally found my own game to replay once every year or so

Pure art, such a pretty game it was a delight to go around talking to all the npc's. The gameplay was ok, I pumped up the stat that effects skill damage, one shot most of the enemies up till the final boss, died to it almost instantly, then turned off the game. LOVE the soundtrack.
