About Coral & The Abyss
Coral & The Abyss puts you in the role of a lone survivor exploring a derelict mothership overrun with alien creatures, piecing together the mystery of a failed colonization through environmental clues and discovery. Blend fast-paced combat, RPG progression, and non-linear exploration across vertically interconnected areas to uncover secrets and face intense boss encounters.
Step into the shoes of Coral, one of the last survivors of a failed mission to colonize an unknown planet, and explore what remains of the mothership, the Crystal Mountain, now a derelict wreck shrouded in flickering lights, metallic echoes, and unsettling sounds. But you're not alone: alien creatures, oozing black masses with a single red eye, roam the ruins.
No explicit missions, no arrows pointing the way. Your curiosity is your guide: explore freely and follow the hidden clues scattered throughout the world. You'll need to piece together traces and fragments of the past to uncover the truth. Nothing is as it seems, each discovery may reveal unexpected connections and unlock secrets waiting to be found.

What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Coral & The Abyss is an atmospheric exploration-focused action RPG with twin-stick shooter-like combat that challenges players to discover its world through observation and experimentation rather than hand-holding. Players praise its unique art style, esoteric world-building reminiscent of games like TUNIC, distinctive memory system, and rewarding sense of discovery, though some note the combat takes time to feel satisfying and the story could use more dramatic weight. Most reviewers recommend giving it a chance, particularly at a sale price.
Strange but interesting little game. It handles almost like a twin-stick shooter, with a strong sense of atmosphere. Worth a look for such a reasonable price.1 found this helpful
Good game.
Coral & The Abyss is a science-fiction action RPG developed and published by Intrugli Games that combines exploration-focused gameplay, challenging combat, RPG progression, and a richly atmospheric world. Drawing inspiration from Metroidvania design principles, the game places players in a mysterious environment filled with hidden pathways, dangerous creatures, and fragments of a forgotten tragedy. Rather than relying on extensive dialogue or objective markers to drive the experience forward, it encourages players to uncover its secrets through observation, exploration, and persistence. The story follows Coral, one of the few survivors of a failed attempt to colonize an unknown planet. Stranded within the remains of the Crystal Mountain, a once-mighty mothership now reduced to a silent and decaying wreck, Coral must search for answers while navigating an environment filled with danger. The ship itself serves as both setting and narrative device, with abandoned corridors, damaged systems, and scattered clues gradually revealing what happened to the mission and its crew. The storytelling remains intentionally subtle, allowing players to piece together events through environmental de…
Beautifully esoteric. Very much like TUNIC, if you need a comparison. It's its own world with its own rules that challenges you to figure it out. The memory system is completely unique. The combat leaves a bit to be desired but eventually makes up for it by becoming faster paced. It's a bit of a rough start only because you have to learn not only where to go but what you can actually do to get there. Art is a little rough around the edges but I find it endearing still. Boss music is fantastic Only 90 minutes in but I had to leave a review inspiring others to give it a try hopefully. Full disclosure: I got this on a sale for $1 Completion thoughts: Amazing. There are some things I wish were a bit better (the story didn't feel like it had enough dramatic weight, maybe one or two more bosses) but it left me wanting more - in the best way possible. This is a game I'll treasure for a while. Some of the best exploration and puzzle solving in any metroidvania, hell, any game ever.
A short but endearing experience. The art and visuals alone make the game feel worthwhile but the unique type of discovery and exploration this game offers make it a welcome and fresh offering to the genre. Highly recommend giving this a chance.
Great game with an intriguing atmosphere
