It bills itself as a 16-bit style game, and in fact it plays pretty much like a forgotten Genesis or SNES action platformer - and not really an A-list one. It feels something like a lost cousin to Shinobi III, with a similar feel but worse controls. If that doesn't sound like a glowing review to you, then this game probably isn't for you, but if it sounds ok, you'll probably enjoy the game. That simple.

Very disappointing, honestly. Blazing Chrome remains Joymasher's only good game. The controls are fine, graphics are generally pretty good even if at times it seems the entire game is made out of grey and purple, but the stage design makes the game an absolute chore to play. Every stage I have played is extremely simple and linear, rarely presenting more than one or two things to deal with, and seems concerned primarily with slowing you down using annoying, boring roadblocks rather than offering any kind of challenge or interesting gameplay. I have played about half of the stages so far, and almost every stage I played has multiple repetitions of some version of "destroy this wall to progress that takes too many hits, but you have to keep stopping to avoid a predictable and unthreatening hazard". None of the stages I played took advantage of any of the player character's abilities in anything approaching an interesting way, and I think the whole Mega Man style structure of the game is to blame for this. It adds nothing. None of the stages or bosses felt like they would have been easier with a specific item or power, so what is the point? The game paints itself into a corner wher…

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. most of its good or whatever i think its neat with some cool ideas and nice old aesthetics and pushing the buttons generally feels good. and i think not knocking you back to the beginning of the level is great with decent checkpoints thru the levels. BUT absolutely sucks when you get to a level thats just a pain to play &&& doesnt do anything interesting. over and over swing once move out of the way because theres a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shooting ♥♥♥♥ at you but they decided that putting a wall there for you to bash your skull against was a fun idea. THRICE IN THE FIRST HALF. maybe because they realized so much can be trivialized by the speed and tools they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ give you. and then second half yeah just put a bunch more annoying ass barriers to break for you to waste time on because thats good design. not interesting platforming just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hurdles. boring ♥♥♥♥ amplified by the platforming feeling kind of off or stilted game at its best when youre flying through and doing sick moves interspersed with cool killing blows. absolutely miserable when it thinks it isnt and it slows you down. twas not the only time it happened but the most noticeable as it was the. entire. …

I'm one third into the game and I like the visuals and action. I really am bad at these kinds of games. Everyone says this game's easy compared to old school 8 and 16-bit era staples. IDK, for me Moonrider is quite challenging. But not as tough as Cyber Shadow, which I found nightmarishingly hard.
