About Guitar Fretter

Guitar Fretter is an action puzzle game and playful practice tool all about making a game of memorizing the note positions on a 4 or 5 string bass or 6 or 7 string guitar. For both guitarists and guitar-curious folk. Game play: first choose your guitar setup, custom tuning if you wish, and level of challenge. Then mysterious creatures show up ready to take your energy if you miss a match. Match the notes, score health and points. Find note patterns and hints. Along the way learn patterns of notes on the guitar fretboard. And get little bits of story and encouragement between levels. Story: Pick and Crunchy are walking home from their band practice space when suddenly swirling portals open midair all around them. Mysterious creatures emerge, hungry to take energy from any musicians they can find. The only way to escape is to send them back by matching the notes they carry. Features: + Action puzzle game: match the notes to get past each level + 4 types of guitars: 6 and 7 string electric, 4 and 6 string bass. + Lefty flip: rotate any guitar 180 degrees. NEW feature for Guitar Fretter 2.0! + Ninja mode: hide all the hints during a regular game to get more points and test your memory. Or choose to start a full ninja mode game to remove hints fully and go for the extra challenge. + Custom tuning: raise or lower each string's pitch to practice a new playing style. + Encouragement: Built in bits of story, encouragement, and hints on the transition screens. + Game save: Save your game in progress to continue later. + Practice mode: play any guitar as an interactive chart of notes without the pressure of the mysterious portal creatures.

This is exactly what I need. I personally didn't find the beginner speed to be too fast. With a basic youtube idea of the fretboard, while in ninja mode, I can use this game in conjunction with limitations I set on myself (like, "this round, find the notes only on the low E string") to train myself. People can rip this all they want, but I have searched in vain up until this point to find a way to commit every note to memorization that wasn't EXCRUCIATINGLY BORING. When viewed in that context, this is actually pretty revolutionary. I'm only 40 minutes in at the time of review, but this has already been worth my money. Looking forward to mastering every note and getting up to ludicrous speed.

This game is not for beginners. I bought it hoping to learn the fret board but it moves too fast, explains nothing, and generally isn't helpful at all. If you already know most of the notes and you just want to stay sharp ... this game still isn't really worth your time.

Needs better progression to force you to learn other frets.. maybe i didnt progress far enough to have that happen? Otherwise it crashed twice within 10 minutes for me which is a bit of a problem. Otherwise, a cool idea just needs some fixing
