The English language does not possess the words that I need to express how much I HATED this experience. This game, if it can be called that, is a mind numbing, soul sucking experience from start to finish. Gameplay: Feels like having Toejam cheese What starts out as a novelty, quickly becomes a repetitive that would make COD blush. Each and every encounter is a series of rooms that are all shooting galleries. This wouldn't be an issue if the level designs weren't an absolute to chore to play in. The game tries to force you to adapt and maintain the flow combat. However, this results in absolutely frustrating experience where the AI consistently will spawn out of nothing directly behind you...over....and....over...and.....over again. It is impossible to "get good" at this game because the AI is stacked to ALWAYS have this advantage. You can reliably dispose the ads in front of, then immediately do a 180 to find the next wave has spawned right at your flank. This is not to account for the absurdly obnoxious unit types that rush you incessantly to body block range units and waste your ammo. The value for what you get with this game is hard to beat. The added side missions to add to the replay ability is also a nice touch. I've played this game as well with 60 fps or more on mulitple different setups ranging from an old laptop with a 2070 built in and intel 8750h in my living room with a controller to my main PC with a 9800x3d and 5070ti. Controller and MnK are both great for this game. Again for 30 bucks it's really hard to beat. If you find it for less it's a steal at that point.1 found this helpful
To get the obvious out of the way, wow, there's some phenomenal art style, visuals, and animation in this game. I thought the mix of 2D characters in a 3D environment was really cool, along with the black-and-white color palette. As far as gameplay goes, it's a DOOM-like, with high movement speed, a variety of weapons and power-ups, and combat design. You drop into a level, run around and gather clues, move into arenas to fight waves of enemies and the occasional boss. The one standout level to me was the Nuthouse/Unknown, and even though it was fairly tedious to navigate and complete, it's hard to think of other levels in other games that do anything similar. As far as the story goes, it's the classic crime thriller, and it even includes a femme fatale. Nothing really surprising, more than enough reason to go to each location and shoot up all the bad guys. Sometimes I felt like I was piecing the case together faster than Jack, but also I don't think this game was really trying to be a super deep mystery. Troy Baker as the main character, Jack Pepper, is great, but Rhiannon Moushall's Vivian McCarthy really surprised me with her voice performance. As expected, there are plent…
I'm leaving a negative review because the Third Wife boss fight in Phase 3 is completely broken. Her central shield becomes completely invulnerable/bugged, absorbing 5 dynamites and all cannonballs without taking damage or showing visual cracks across multiple attempts. Deleting checkpoints didn't fix it. Giving a negative score until this progression-blocking bug is officially patched.
I must say I really enjoyed Mouse P.I. If you are looking for something different with a ♥♥♥♥ Tracy style of world and cartoon humor, try this game.
