✦ AI summary

Cyber Manhunt 2: New World - The Hacking Simulator is a detective investigation game similar to Orwell that improves upon its predecessor with a cleaner UI, better tutorials, and more engaging hacking minigames, though it suffers from stiff character writing, awkward English translation, and a gameplay loop that often feels more like mandatory item collection than actual deduction. Players appreciate the sequel's refinements and investigation mechanics, but criticize the requirement to find every single clue before progressing and the sometimes nonsensical story logic.

I love the Orwelll games, so when I heard that this was similar, I picked it up on sale. And the core gameplay loop is very similar to Orwell, where you hunt for clues in emails and webpages. I even enjoyed some of the hacking minigames, despite the fact that I normally hate mini games with a fiery passion. I do think it actually could have used some more of those, to make this hacking game feel more like hacking. One of the main places where it fails is having so many characters that interact with the player. The characters are written stiffly and feel more robotic than the AI that the player is supposed to be. It doesn't help that the voice acting is of middling quality, and the translation to English is very awkward at times. But I ended up connecting more with the characters that never showed up on screen, because the storytelling through the environment was actually pretty decent. Once someone showed up and started talking however, I stopped caring. The puzzle design is not the best, but I didn't mind it for the most part, since it's more about being immersed in the storytelling. The biggest issue with the puzzles was that the game holds your hand until it doesn't. I got fru…

I played this for a while. While the story is interesting, it doesn't really work all that well as a puzzle or investigation game. This isn't really so much of an investigation game as it is a scavenger hunt. The core gameplay is sifting through online media and collecting information relating to a specific case. There is no real deduction when solving a case, you mostly just collect information and then once you collect enough information that the game decides you can move on, you summarize everything you found and then do it all over again. The game halts progression until you've collected EVERY piece of information for a current section, which can feel like finding a needle in a haystack sometimes. If you don't pour over EVERY message/text block/image and it slips past you before you move on, then you're kind of screwed. It gets tiring really after a while. There was a neat mini game in the third case that kind of broke up the routine, but ultimately it wasn't that engaging and was mostly just frustrating. Fortunately you can skip it, but I stopped playing after that point. If you are looking for a game to scratch the same itch that Obra Dinn or Roottrees did, then look somewhe…

While not without some issues, this one is much improved over the first. Cleaner UI, better (while still not perfect) tutorials, cleaner artwork. If you liked the first installment (and if you are at all interested in this series, you should start there) I imagine you will enjoy this one as well.

The first game was really good, and this one even better. I almost never give a game a 10/10 review but this game (and its comperason to the last) is in another level. they did EVRYTHING right as developers: took everything that was good in the first game, and implement all of the good feadback from the comunity, from quality of life stuff, to better minigames, even better puzzles, and of course new mechanics that didnt exist but add so much fun to the game. BUY THIS GAME, AND PLEASE MAKE A THIRD!!!!!!!
