About A Familiar Fairytale Dyslexic Text Based Adventure

This game was created to help others feel the frustration of having dyslexia.
You play as a small fox a fairytale story with Kings, Queens, and witches.

This game is a text-based adventure created with the intention of allowing the user to experience the frustration of being dyslexic.
Sentences and words are made intentionally hard to read through different rules of how they are constructed change with every chapter, ranging from a flickering background, jittery letters and PQBS's being swapped around.
Choices must be made in a quick time which leads to even more frustration.

Much like a book, you could skip to the end of this game thought the chapter select menu but this is supposed to simulate the fact that you can do this but don't get any satisfaction from doing so. You can re-read chapters to see if you can get a better outcome.

There are a bunch of options to try to make the game easier to play based on people's common conceptions on what fixes dyslexia.
There is an option to add a colored overlay and remove the flicker in an attempt to combat "Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome/ Irlen Syndrome".
And there is an option to change the font to Open Dyslexic which in my opinion is harder to read.
There are options which allow you to play the game in non-dyslexic mode if you want, but wheres the fun in that.

The game includes a range of accessibility settings.
Color Overlays
Page Flicker Off
Open Dyslexia Font
Text To Speech

We don't claim to be actually like what a dyslexic persons sees, but merely a simulation of the frustration.

God I will never joke about me being "Dyslexic" again. To say this is frustrating is an understatement. The entire time you are supposed to be having fun when in actuality this feels like living hell. That sounds bad, but it really opened my eyes up to how hard it is living with dyslexia. All those times I thought somebody was just being "dramatic" I will now look back on and realize I was the problem and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Maybe there are images and videos and other simulators out there, but this one really help to illustrate how everything is ruined with this. Don't buy it for the story or game play or whatever, buy it so that you can finally understand how horrible we've treated people with dyslexia over the years for what they have to go through.

I have dyslexia and after failing to even be able to play the game on dyslexic mode (I'm assuming that makes like, super dyslexia for me) I played it on normal. The grammar is absolutely atrocious. The punctuation is terrible. And the FlIckEring. That being said. It makes a great point, and is pretty cool as it does show how it feels to have dyslexia. I absolutely love one review by apena9621 "But you should not have made the decisions timed. I can handle desciphering the sentences, but when I have to choose and I have only desciphered the first choice and then the timer runs out, I am not challenged, nor enlighetened, not anything. I am frustrated." I've had to take timed tests with essay questions phrased like riddles. Part of the point of this game is that you only get time to decipher a couple questions, have to use context clues, and often make mistakes because of it.

Trying to play this while being dyslexic was like having a stroke.

https://youtu.be/iUaSgOSZWlo Starting with a commendable goal of expressing the dyslexic experience the deployment is heavy handed and only approaches one style of how the condition is expressed.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, this opened my eyes to Dyslexia in more ways than I ever thought. It's a struggle to play this game on dyslexic mode and honestly? Probably the best way to learn empathy for people with reading struggles
