"Know, oh prince, that in the years when Atlantis ruled the oceans, sins and arrogance unleashed fierce demons. When everything seemed lost, four heroes arrived to close the Gates of Abathor."
The Atlantean civilization has angered the gods. They have sent hordes of monsters to punish Atlantis by destroying the continent. Players must cooperate and compete to save Atlantis, going through a series of challenges of increasing difficulty. In their progress, our heroes will fight against ferocious demons and primordial gods, against the living and against the dead, against flying beasts and crawling horrors. They will dodge dangers and traps and descend into chilling abysses. But they will also compete against each other for the loot and the spoils, plundering treasures and offering them to the gods to receive their favor.

The game starts out a fun tribute to old-school gaming, prominently as a tribute to a very specific arcade game. For the first few levels, I would certainly give a positive review, and if I had stopped playing it then, that's the sort of review I would have left However, a pattern starts emerging that made me stop and uninstall it. After a while, the level design stops being a tribute to its inspiration, but turns the experience into a very different game. The enemies and the level layout stop being designed to be challenging, and simply descend into pure annoyance. Enemies stop fighting you and instead just try to trap you, with the layouts intentionally designed to let them knock you off platforms. Progress turns into just standing and waiting for the moment to move.... over... and over... and over. It stops being an arcade game and becomes more like a puzzle game. For someone who enjoys a games like Super Meat Boy, and similar twitch-and-dodge games, this is fine, and what such players are probably used to. But I didn't buy the Barbarian-Game tribute for it to play like a bland and nuisance-infested metroidvania without at least the progress and exploration rewards that tho…8 found this helpful
Fantastic Indie Title! This game has been so much fun to play. I enjoy it alone but it really shines with some friends or family in a couch coop environment. Great 2d Platformer with homages to Conan, Gauntlet and the like. It has some REALLY REALLY fun boss fights. The only thing I wish it had was a dedicated range character, perhaps a caster or archer. Besides that the game is an absolute joy and the pixel art and sound design really hit the spot.2 found this helpful

Great side scrolling beat em up, with a wonderful set of surprises and additions of difficulty throughout. I hope they keep going and come out with a sequel someday.
