Ace In Space

An enjoyable, short-ish game featuring a non-binary ace protagonist whisked away by aliens to live out (or prolong) the rest of their life. While it's labelled as a dating sim (and there are indeed robots and a human to date), it is at least as much about your character's medical condition and journey, and the support they get along the way. Even 'bad' endings and failed dates add to your story, the same way the game encourages you to enjoy life while you have it. I would suggest playing as many routes as you can, to flesh out the characters.

I've only got one of the endings so far, but I NEEDED to give this game a positive review RIGHT NOW, so I'll update this later if need be, when I've got the other endings. In short, this game is amazing. I'm a very romantic asexual, and it feels like this game was made for me. Cute robots you can date?? Yes please! The characters are so sweet, the art is great and the menu and all that feels really polished. It feels like I game that the developers really cared about. And my goodness the interactions between the characters are so cute. I'm so glad that this game has multiple endings because it means I can keep playing it. The fact that this exists genuinely makes me so happy, this game is brilliant and sweet and made me cry a little bit. THANK YOU to the developers for creating this game.

The game is nice (I personally don't like it, but others might). I have played a bit and I like the style. I don't regret spending my money on this game. I think the dialogue drags on way too long (you kind of have to lock in for this game). And so far, the story seems a bit jank. Not that it's particularly bad, but I think it's too convenient that a robot from who knows where, with a planet exactly the same as Earth, trying to help humans, would be realistic. I wish there was at least some realism regarding that. I haven't gotten too far (so I might be inaccurate in the tone and quality of this game), but so far I think that the backstory and whatnot is a bit poorly made. I recommend this if you like something more unserious. I just think this game isn't for me or is made for me as an audience. But hey, it's cheap anyway, I'm glad I supported the creator. And I'm glad there is a game about asexuals (the asexual colors are very nice)!

A sweet short VN about hope in the face of terminal cancer. A little wordy, a little utopian tumblrcore, but the art is cute and the robots are neat and there are worse ways to spend an hour or two.

(Heads up, there is some spoilers in this review!) A reminder that this whole review is just my opinion and how I see the game! My experience with it and all that. For some background, I first found out about this game from a small meetup/convention. What caught my eye besides the space theme (love myself some space themes) and the protag being ace and enby (because hell yes, I am demi and enby myself) was the robots, actually! I had seen a robot here or there in dating sims before, but not a game where the majority seemed to be robots! Looking through the designs Fern caught my eye and I was like "yes, YOU! You are my favourite." and they were a big reason I played this game I am not even gonna lie. (Note: All it takes for me personally to get into a game is one, or sometimes two, characters I latch onto like a leech and never let go.) I remember having a few questions going in; my own little curiosities. Will it touch on the topic of sex-positive asexuality verses sex-repulsed asexuality? The main character is enby, so will it mention gender dysphoria at all? Are all the other characters we meet/date ace as well? So after playing the game, what did I think? Firstly…
