About Acorn Cop

In Acorn Cop, you're taking a shooting test as a cop.

The rules are so simple:

- You must shoot and destroy all the acorns
- You must NOT shoot any of the humans and other living things (use your best judgment)
- Everything else you can shoot at will, some of them will be very useful when destroyed, and some are just collectibles
- Do not miss more than 2 acorns for 20 minutes and you win the game (a.k.a passing the test)

Controller guide:

- Flick LS to change aim assist target
- While you're slowing down by holding the LB button, ammo won't refill

Features:

  • Permadeath
  • Special items with unique effects like slowing time, clearing all the acorns on the screen, refilling ammos...
  • Collectible items
  • Classical music (makes violence classy)
  • Boss fight
  • Funny easter eggs
  • Achievements

The game is funny but it isn't very well balanced; it stops being fun with around 8 minutes left on the timer, when the difficulty spikes like crazy. I can pretty consistently get to 5-7 minutes on the clock with all 3 lives left before a scenario that's unbeatable happens. For example, around 7 minutes left on the clock, I keep getting 3 long acorns, 2 yellow ones, and 3+ regular ones thrown on screen so rapidly that it's like they almost spawn at once. Long ones take 3 shots to destroy, yellow take 2, regular take 1, which means I have to move and shoot 15+ times within ~3 seconds. No bombs or time-stop clocks are spawning to help clear it, so all the bomb damage and clock time extension upgrades aren't helping. Here's some ideas for improvement: limit the number of acorns that take multiple shots to destroy that can spawn on screen at a time to something beatable (or add a +1 shot damage ability to help with many long/yellow acorns on screen at once), reduce the 30 minute round time to 25, increase the support item spawn rate at the higher difficulty level, and/or reduce the time to next ability overall so that players can amass more for the late game.

"Acorn Cop" is a garbage tier joke game (the developers admit this is not sincerely made, a "meme") based on an incident in the USA where acorns fell on a police car and the officer mistook it for gunshots and took an evasive maneuver. I can't really make fun of the cop for that, given the likelyhood in the USA that any loud noise is gunfire. These meme joke game is garbage polluting Steam. What do you do in the game? All you do is click on your screen to "shoot" various 2D sprites, some of which are acorns, some are not. That's seriously all there is to this. I thought joke games were supposed to be at least mildly funny. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?), and it looks like a garbage Flash gamem only worse. Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse. The gameplay is even shallower than the visuals... in terms of technical assessment, this is a failure. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. They have their hand out for a $9 USD "donation"…
